Yeah, what is with the people just standing there like that? Those guys could drown pretty quickly.
Tire sort of went up the barrier. Tire hit it, more so than the fender. Locked up tire is not going to turn.

If there's anything good about this, it's the health of the passenger. Hopefully, insurance says no to the claim, and it won't inflate rates. What a dumb a$$.

The surprising part to me is that nobody from the crowd reacted and/or tried to help.
Oh Hum. A car with two people in it is partially submerged near me. Well at least they dont have to worry about a fire. What car is coming next?

Thinking maybe the navigator missed calling out the corners or stuck throttle. He was no way in position to make that turn.

I think they got out of the car okay.
Here's a link to the video of them getting out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsuhlAP8sMI __ Last edited by genrex; 09-24-2013 at 12:05 AM.. |

Not a stuck throttle IMHO. Just missed the turn completely. Got busy saving it out of the previous turn and trying to go fast. You can see and hear (?) an upshift a second before the tires lock up.
I am too poor to drive like that. Blessing in disguise! ![]() G |

The driver said it was a stuck throttle. You can hear the car revving when he locks up..

I don't hear it. I'd say it was a stuck throttle too. No offense, who knows what you do in the heat of the moment, but doesn't he have a clutch? "Both feet in" would be my reaction, not just the brakes. Maybe the guy never Autocrossed.

If a missed call, the driver has eyes and is staring at a fast approaching jersey barrier. If a stuck throttle, turn off the engine and both feet in. I don't get this accident at all. Killed a 964 RSR. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Only saving grace is the owners of other 964RSRs just saw their cars' value rise.

It was already destroyed before the crash if its a real RSR, from the website it looks like it has/had a 3.4 water cooled engine and a sequential box??

To the guys who called the driver a 'dumbass'... Umm, this is racing - look it up sometime. Every F1 driver has had a racing incident at one point in his career, eventually it happens if you are using the capabilities of yourself and the hardware. If you aren't pushing the capabilities, you aren't racing, you are lapping (read posing) - end of story.
Yup, he damaged an RSR... Weren't the RSR's supposed to be race cars? I don't see what the big deal is here, provided both driver and co-driver walked away. Don't bring your car to the track unless you can afford to walk away from it there, or you have track day insurance. This is why my 2 track cars are cars I can leave behind without too much pain... Also I have a spare tub in the back 40 just in case.

A stuck throttle is not as easy to save as some may think. Time goes very quick especially if you jab it once.
