On today show next, 3 million mile Volvo p 1800
I've seen a little about this guy before. Original owner, apparently quite the road warrior.
They will do an interview soon |

Irv Gordon.
P1800s. Original engine; couple rebuilds. Has rebuilt the seat several times, also. |

This turned out to be a short fluffy interview.
So many interesting questions would have made it worthwhile. Like what has him driving so much and racking up so many miles. Stories from the road, Details about up keep etc. His car does look very clean and he is still driving it so pretty amazing! Cheers Richard |

Having owned a Volvo P1800 back in the 1970's for a short time I cannot understand why a person would want to own it that long. Not particularly powerful, felt kind of heavy but admittedly was good looking. My relationship with that Volvo was terminated by not only boredom but underlying rust. RIP

3 million miles makes about half a million bucks for gas in today's money i you consider inflation.
And he spent about 6-7 YEARS straight in the car. I saw the stories when he hit 2 million. He must be on a mission now, as that wasn't that long ago. He must have driven the car constantly since 2 mil. I remember he was pretty boring, so didn't bother to watch or read about it this time. I probably put down 25k a year in different cars and feel I drive a lot - I like road trips. It would take me 120 years to get to 3 mil!!! G |

Sorry. I smell mental illness / OCD here. I can't see any other reason to drive like that. Agreed about the P1800. All show. No go. I guess it takes all kinds.

Met him at the local dealership a few years ago. Neat little old man, fun to talk to. Was here for a weekend @ the dealership doing a promo

Hemmings Sports and Exotics magazine did a article on that car a while ago and profiled all the work done to it over the years. Several years ago at a car show (or something similar) some friends distracted Irv while Volvo factory guys crawled all over the car verifying numbers and authenticity.

I think Volvo gave Irv a new 780 when he hit one million miles.

His car and story is featured in a Volvo add on TV. They must compensate him for that.
