I saw that, and had that exact same thought Lee!

Probably be ok. Most race drivers keep it on the track and might have the odd blast here and there. The cars are usually always well maintained though.

I wonder if it ever had a Hurley Haywood sticker on it? :)

Can anyone help me find a 30-35k 996tt on the east coast in decent shape (not silver)? A friend really wants one but cant find many. I cant either to be honest.

Cheap Turbo's are almost universally silver.

Like this one.

Those are mutually exclusive search conditions

He has listed with a broker. Wonder what the price would be without the mark up.

Most $30k 996TTs are salvage title. There was a nice one on Rennlist a while back but it had 120k on it.

Don't say that over on RL. Seems like many of the TT owners are closer to F-car owners when it comes to miles on the car.

KNS 08-06-2014 08:58 AM

There is a guy on Rennlist who put over 370,000 miles on his 996TT before he opened up the engine.

That one was really maintained and documented, I would have happily bought it.

So is the 997 worth a premium over a 996? What about miles, how important are miles to you?

Seems like a pretty good price with low miles and I like the sport seats.
1999 33k miles, coupe $23k. Dk blue paint, gray int, sport seats.

more miles, but still acceptible, 997, sport seats
2005 51k miles, coupe $33k. Wht paint, blk int, sport seats

decent miles, 997, most expensive, no sport seats
2007 48k miles, coupe $38k. Slv paint, blk int

It's a turbo, what else needs to be said other than no sport seats, but that's probably a fair trade off.
2001 43k mile turbo $40k. Blk, blk

The white 997 would be the one I'd get. I also have a soft spot for white 911s, and throw in an actual black interior AND sport seats? Perfect.

Performance is only marginally better, newer, typically lower mileage, lower/no incidence of IMS failure (depending on year). I personally think they nailed the styling on the 997, I like it better than the 996 or 991. More traditional 911 than the 996, not huge and sorta melted looking like the 991. With that said, 997S vs 996TT would be a very hard choice, and I'd still take a 996 GT3 over either.

onewhippedpuppy 08-15-2014 07:08 AM

How about an affordable 986?
