Kind of an odd place to list a TT....

High miles but the price is good.

Westy 04-08-2015 01:58 PM

^^^^ Ya see...this is what confuses me. Universally folks say this is a great motor and to see 200-300k miles is not unusual. But the 118k is high miles. I like the 996, but a stock one... I'm just going to lose a lot of money, but if I pay a little more for a tt, then down the road I wouldn't lose my shorts. I don't need all that HP, but what the heck. Just a little confused here.

I'd take that one too.

118k is high miles for a 996 turbo only because most 996 turbos are not driven much and most have low miles. 118k is not a lot of miles for that car. I've looked into most Porsche models over the years and just about all have "gotchas" that can range from not terribly bad to big $$$, but I have to say there doesn't seem to be any with the 996 turbo as far as the engine go. Isolated issues here and there but none of the glaring "thread after thread" issues that seem to come up with other models. Pretty amazing and why I'm on the hunt for one too!:D

If I stumbled onto a Silver exterior / Red Interior 996TT I would be hard pressed to pass it by. I saw a silver/dark red 997TT this morning heading to work and I about chased the guy down...

Porsche 911 911 | eBay

If I'd already sold my SC, I'd being asking for more pics and do a meet and greet with the owner so I could see the car. Ca car and real close by.

Won't help the sale that he has it listed as a 4S

Westy 04-09-2015 07:12 PM

So ur saying it's not? Ya see, I have to keep reading and looking and learning. I can't tell by simply looking.....yet. Thanx to Craig T I just learned what a X50 is. The madness never stops!!

Damn you Fred. Damn you!

No way I'd make it home from Reno without picking up a ton of speeding tickets!

I'm guessing the seller notes are killing it...

“A couple minor door dings on right side, small scuff here or there, ding in front hood from under, there is some drive line noise from transmission (possible pilot bearing). 6 speed Transmission shifts perfectly, good clutch. Runs & Drives Great.”

Probably leery of the diesel motor! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/boldblue.gif

aigel 04-10-2015 05:39 PM

I had one of those tranmisssion noises in the 993. "probably a pilot bearing" uh-huh! Rrrright!

About $8k later I had a new Guards LSD differential, steel synchros and shift fork, a full rebuild and no more noise! :D

How Comfortable is the Ride?

After reading this article, it makes it sound like it's not much different than my SC, and the main reason I'm selling is because of comfort. Additionally, what's the going rate for a PPI on a tt? Seems to me the computer does most of it, and except for leakdown, visual would do the rest.....brakes, oil leaks, switches, body and paint, etc.
