I agree. Just use the Pelican Bearing and change it again when the clutch needs doing. For a couple hundred bucks it's a no brainer.

If this was a tip I would buy it sight unseen

I was the fourth owner of my 996 when I bought it with 88k miles, and it was a "time bomb" IMS car. If that Turbo looks as good in person as it does online, I wouldn't be scared by the miles.

OMG. Who started this thread. I'm thinking shot, hung, drawn and quartered, then he should have to find me my perfect 996/7. I can't wait to get the SC sold so I can get in the market for one of these cars. And why so much hate for silver? Me likeeeee!!

M.D. Holloway 04-07-2015 06:01 AM

That blue TT sold ...

If it was a tip it would be mine.

Much like O.J., I'm out on the golf course searching for the guilty party.

GWN7 04-07-2015 03:44 PM

I was so tempted on that blue TT....even if I would have to park it somewhere for a year.

I KNOW! I made arrangements to go down there this afternoon. I put the money into my PayPal account. This morning he sends me an email asking me not to drive down. Some guy did the Buy-It-Now on Ebay. I wanted that thing.

I tried my damndest to get Noah930 to punch the BIN, but he was being all soft about spending 35k sight unseen...

That's my issue too. I was willing to pay the BIN price. I just can't pull the trigger on any car sight unseen. There are a lot of ruthless people out there.

porsche4life 04-07-2015 06:26 PM

I've done it twice before.... Worst case is you lose the $500 and the guy trashes you on Ebay...

onewhippedpuppy 04-07-2015 07:14 PM

If you are close, do the BIN and show up in person to inspect it. If as described, pay for your new car and drive home happy. If not as described then you lose nothing.

I'd like to avoid both and do my due diligence the old fashioned way. I can live without the risk and live without the car. I'll find a good local private party tt soon enough.

Craig T 04-07-2015 08:33 PM

BTW...the seller was a dealer who bought the car from a friend for $27,500. That was a quick $7k.
