Truck AC compressor

The Tacos compressor is shot and Toyota want $875 for a new one. There has got to be a less expensive alternative. Any tips?

TIA

It's most likely a common brand, like a Nippondenso or something. you should be able to get a # off it and get a replacement from a parts store or online.

Bought one from advance this past summer, It was closer to 300. It leaked like a sieve out of the shaft seal. They replaced it for free, and it has been going strong since. Guaranteed for 3 years, as long as you don't mind replacing it a few times.

You could also have the compressor rebuilt. There has to be a competent rebuilder in Jersey.

At least it is a convenient time of year to have the AC system broken.

Most anybody in the aftermarket should have it. If you have a local CarQuest, they might be able to get an OE Nippondenso compressor for you through World Pac for a third, to half what Toyota is asking.

I sell ac parts, but I need a little more info on the Taco. If it's locked up, you're probably going to need a new condenser if the original is parallel flow.

Let me know

It might just be the electronic control valve, Rick. Either way aftermarket 7SEU16C or 17's are not much more than $300. They rarely lock up.

How about something like a Sanden ? Reliable and decent price.

If interested, engine size and year.
