LED holiday lights help?

There is a plethora of inexpensive led holiday lamps around, and the problem we have is how to get power from the end of one string to the beginning of the next.

In particular there is one 100 foot long strand that has a very lightweight control with push button to go from off through several patterns. 110 volt in and approx 50 volts DC on two of the three output leads.
We don't want to have various socket boxes dangling from the trees to service multiple strands.

Anyone here have experience with modifying these so i can have one long strand?

thanks
Dave

You could try splicing the two strings together without the second controller. I'm afraid you are going to see a big enough voltage drop by the end of that first string though that it wont work. Nice thing about LED is it is low voltage though, so there is much less chance of causing a major short.

Holiday Lights? Have the Nazis taken over LED too?

You do realize there is more than one religion out there. Not everyone celebrates Christmas, but do put up holiday lights to be festive.

If I wanted to put up a menorah because I thought it was cool, I would not expect everyone to change the name to "celebration candle holder."

If I wanted to give dreidels out for stocking stuffers, I would not expect everyone to change the name to "wooden play tops."

People need to let it be.

The strings I'm using are 10M (33 feet) and allow up to 10 strings to be connected from a single controller. ~$25 per string.

But there are four holidays this time of year, hence, happy holidays.

I don't put up lights because it's not something traditionally done for Hanukkah. If I'd did put up lights, it would be to be festive. I'd probably put up the white lights that make it look like icicles hanging off the roof. I'm sure not going to put up Christmas lights.

There just is nothing wrong with saying Happy Holidays or holiday lights.

Sorry for the tangent, Dave.

Holiday does literally mean Holy Day, but that doesn't translate to the rest of the English speaking world. You say holidays for 4 holidays, I say use each one. Happy Halloween, Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, or Happy Hanukkah and a happy new year.

They don't blend into the same day. What if it is the same day. When it's morning, do you say, good morning? If you do, then why?

Hanukka; AKA The Festival of Lights.

Christmas lights displayed unattached from an actual tree are a relatively new thing so if you get to modify your celebration display then we get to modify ours.

Happy Hanukka.

Of course they do.

Hannuka occurs according to the Hebrew calendar so it moves.

This year it overlaps Thanksgiving, hence why we are calling it Thanksgivukka.

Next year the last day falls on Christmas eve.

In 2016 it starts Christmas Eve day and runs through New Years.

In 2019 it starts on the 22nd and ends the day before New Years.

Typically it either overlaps or is right next to Christmas and New Years.

You know, of course, Doug, that the "Christmas" lights are a "pagan" tradition having nothing to do with Christmas. They originated long before the invention of Christianity. In Europe the lights were part the winter solstice celebrations, long before Christ was born.

DC does not like long runs
that is why edison's DC lost to AC grids

secondly the 50vDC is correct ONLY for the first string
adding more will drop volts too much on both the first and second strings

just buy extension cords to get 110AC to the start of each string
good news is the LED use minimum current so cheap thin wire extensions will work [if they are exterior use rated]
or you could make your own extensions for the 110AC out of thin wire

Still, no one answers my question on whether they say, "Good Morning" and why.
