Definitely go to your PayPal account and confirm that they need the information. Do not open any links in the email, and for God's sake, don't send them any info. Most of the time I just delete anything that requires me to click a link from PayPal, or Ebay.

Send a message via AIM to Gogar
Also, please be sure to not click on any links in the email. Just open your browser and log into Paypal on your own. Don't give them any info you don't really need to.

That's what I do.

Going through my trash I see email about statements from paypal@e dot paypal dot com, an ad about how easy and safe it is to shop with paypal from the same address, another ad about places that use paypal from same address, and another, and an email about how to set up my account, with a link to "get started". They are all from that same, apparently fraudulent address.

I got a receipt, activation email, and prompt to "get started" from service at paypal dot com immediately after my purchase. The other emails were strewn out over weeks. I should have known something was up with that weird address. paypal at e.paypal dot com.

I can bet the e mail started by saying (Dear PayPal Customer) instead of you real name.

My wife and I have used PayPal as both a buyer and seller for 1000's of transactions over the past 10+ years. We have yet to have a problem.

I keep a separate savings account to move money to/from Paypal and never an issue.

Wow never had that happen to me. Even when I do receive an e mail from Pay Pal, I will log on their site to verify the message.
