Yes, but to make sure I would NOT click on any links in the email,

log in to your PayPal on your own from a browser and see if it gives you any notices.

You usually are required to link a bank account if you have SOLD something and want to transfer the funds.

If you're only buying, or selling and leaving the money in your 'PayPal account then maybe it's possible you don't have to link.

I try to leave my PayPal account at $0.00 because I want to have as little to do with those crooks as possible.

They asked the same of me. It was a long time ago though. I opened a special bank account for it (my credit union doesn't charge me for having a savings account). I only keep $20 or so in it. When I want to buy something I go on line and transfer money from checking to the special bank account and PP comes and gets it. When I sell something I transfer the money out of PP to the bank account, then to my checking account. It's a pain, but I can do it from my desk and I don't trust anyone with my main bank account numbers. Pay Pal doesn't have my credit card info anymore, so I feel more secure about that too.

Many of those are NOT from Paypal... they hackers phishing for your info.

Do NOT click on anything in the email.

If you get one, ignore it and separately log in to your PP account to do the task.

Also, make sure to NOT read any of the previous posts, just read the title of the thread, -maybe- read Post#1, and then login and start typing.

Got one of those last week as well.
My account had been frozen and I was required to follow links to repair it.

It was minus 30 degrees Celsius last week. No doubt it was frozen as everything else was.

Every time my dad or I has used Paypal we have had a credit card fraud shortly thereafter. Third time is the last time. One place only had paypal or check in the mail. I now will go through the hassle of the check in the mail, as it is much more secure. Elon Musk can kiss my a$$!

That's surprising. I've done lots of (over a 100) transactions and have never had a problem.

While I COMPLETELY agree not to click ANY link that you received in the email (and go to the PP site), there may be another explanation.

I used my Paypal account for years using my Amex. Then, out of nowhere, I couldn't purchase something I bought on ebay (actually a porsche part by someone who was VERY patient). Anyway, PP said that I had reached my "limit". I cannot remember the exact amount, I seem to remember is was $10,000 total I had spent on all the purchases I had ever made thru PP. If the total of all your purchases reached that limit, your "grace period" is up and now cannot use your credit card, you would have to either a) link to your bank account (do not recommend this) or b) a open a Paypal credit card. it is a bit of a pain in the butt, but after some work, I now have a PP credit card that I can use for my eBay purchases.

Well that makes sense if you followed a link to a spoofed PayPal site.

Not difficult to do.

I honestly can't remember if I followed a link or not. I know I got a couple emails from paypal right after signing up for it in order to make my first purchase, but I am pretty lazy and would have put it off most likely.

My dad is a super careful, some would say paranoid, person and would not follow any link that seemed odd.

Maybe it wasn't from paypal, but that was the only thing out of the ordinary in the past few months.

+1.
Not even self-induced problems & no rocket scientists living here. I am a bit paranoid tho and keep track of the going-ons.

I do understand the difficulties faced by some of the mental midgets I come across on the net. Not all take the protective advice offered here, me thinks.

Never had any problems here, either, but as many others have also mentioned, I keep my balance at zero and force each authorization manually.

What I do is I always log onto PayPal myself instead of clicking on any links in the email. That way I know I'm safe.
