It's a shame Reeves can't speak out and explain how he was violently attacked and only killed a man as the last resort because he was in fear for his life.
he's a cuddly grampa character, a victim of constant and severe brutality, who had no choice. We need to hear his voice. |

That being said, the information released so far is mostly from the prosecution, during the arrest and bail hearing. However, the piece about the cell phone, if it proves to be true, is new to me and offers a shading as to whether or not Reeves had a legitimate right to feel fear. We need to wait for the trial or the release of other confirmed facts to truly justify our final opinions, IMO. |
A jury will decide the whole "feel fear" BS...unless he cops a plea. He's charged and going on trial for murder.
I think he was feeling anger. |
oh that poor little lamb.

I guess that is why your mommy taught you not to hit people. Although that old man appeared to be an easy target for a bully...obviously the old man was prepared to defend himself....and had no way of knowing that the younger man moving in and striking him (both with his phone and then the popcorn) was not a prelude to additional violence (and it may have been...we will never know). The old man may have just saved his life by shooting the agitated and aggressive younger man.

Right...I believe you.

Every single fight I have ever been in, the person threw something in my face right before they threw the first punch. Small sample size, but smart tactics

Hey...I don't know what would have happened...neither do you. All we know is that if the old man felt threatened...he had every right to defend himself by law. He has said all along he did feel threatened. How can you prove he did not beyond reasonable doubt.... Unless he confesses to feeling otherwise! You guys realize you've been having the same argument for 40 pages, right? By this point you can just copy/paste.....

Let me tell you a little something about calling yoked 70 y.o. ex-cops "elderly" and suggestion that they are defenseless, etc...
One of the gnarliest looking guys I've ever seen is the father of a friend. He's at least 70, his son is well into his 40s. The funny thing is, the son is not scary, normal looking dude. The dad is absolutely huge, like NFL size, and seemed to be in excellent shape. When he shook my hand, I felt like a little kid shaking the grown-up's hand, and I have larger than average hands. He could kill someone with his bare hands...no doubt. My late uncle Pat, who was a cop for 30 years, could punch through cement when he was young and you would not want to try him @ 70. This cowardly POS in the movie theatre was not frail by any stretch and it's a convenient use of stereotype to paint him as such. He was and still is a brute. Lay off with the ageism, what are you-his lawyer? |

I would have beat that popcorn boy like a rented donkey. But it never would have gone that far, I would have changed seats. Life is too short.
|
By definition and Florida law, he is elderly...and protected.
Generally folks in their 70s are quite a bit slower and not quite as strong or as healthy as when they were 40...but if it is otherwise in CA...you should probably pass that on to your board of tourism as that would sure attract some oldsters. |
The dead victim could been arrested if he hadn't had been shot.
I'd say with a very good attorney the ol' guy may walk. |

Gotta love how those women were calling the young guy a puss until he hit the older guy...and then said something like "I got it on video so you can press charges"..and lthen they laughed at the guy bleeding. Of course, the younger guy would have lost a girl fight.

Now this is a bizarre twist;
Records: Man in theater shooting also was texting By Associated Press, Updated: Thursday, March 13, 9:16 AM DADE CITY, Fla. — Records show that a retired police captain who reportedly shot a man in a movie theater because he was texting had sent a text message to his own son moments before the incident. According to records released Thursday by prosecutors, Curtis Reeves texted his son, who was on his way to the theater, saying that he was already inside. |

It was likely from the lobby...or before the viewing started, or else we would have heard about it already.
|
Sure. Was probably from the car - outside the theater. Since he deserves our benefit of the doubt.

The videos all seem to collaborate Reeves' story:
