This car looks great! These just have such classic lines. The 1st gen are a bit more sexy than the gen 2s. I used to have an 81 S that I put a 1.8t 20v in. Currently own an 80 rhd version that I'm converting to haldex awd system with another 1.8 20v but supercharged.

It was nothing special to most folks back then and I had an assignment to Germany and could only take one car...and I had bought an 83 Supra new. The Supra got the nod for autobahn duty. |
I know you guys don't care for the MKII version. Here is a photo of one similar to mine, a 1984. This one has the Euro bumpers, mine was the US version. Miss that car. I actually found my 1983 944 while looking for a another scirocco.

Yes, the Mk2 is not a bad looking car by any means. It just lacks the styling of the first one. It's still a sporty little car, definitely a Scirocco.

Any love for the next breed in the line? The corrado? I still miss mine even though it was a colossal money pit!

OK, I was back over there again today.
This time, he dug-up the keys and we poked around a little more. Calloway turbo, as assumed, and got to open the door and look inside.
Then, not 20 minutes ago, I got a call from his brother on the east coast who owns the car. He filled me on more details...not sure whether he's going to sell it but if he does, I should be first in line. Hopefully. I don't know what it's worth but holy ****, this has to be close to the Holy Grail of Mk1 Sciroccos. It's a 1980 and he bought it new. He drove it to school while attending the Art Center in Pasadena and then for a few more years and it's been mostly sitting for maybe 25 years(?) Last registered in 2000. He moved away and left it at home a long time ago and his mom used to start it once in a while, just to keep the battery charged. No mechanical issues when parked. Would take some work to get it back on the road but check condition:  http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1392764982.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1392765043.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1392765187.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1392765301.jpg Completely original except for paint. It has a decent quality re-spray I think. Forgot to ask him. Crazy, the stuff you find out in this world.

Did you buy it?

That Calaway Turbo is kinda holy grail stuff, no? Makes me wonder what the other cars this guy moved on to and if he studied car design in Pasadena, either way You gotta keep that Art Center Sticker..
