One thing that has struck me odd since day one is that the flight was NNE towards China yet on day one of the search when everyone was looking for the plane in the South China Sea the US Navy was searching in the Malacca Strait. Which is on the opposite side of the island and completely in the opposite direction of the intended flight. Now (4 days later) it's been reported the plane may have dropped to a lower altitude and flown directly toward where the US Navy was looking on Day One.
What did the US Navy know that the rest of the world didn't? Does the US navy have a SOSUS type listening system in the waters over there? If they did they would have "heard" the crash of the plane. |

I can't think of any rational situation where the crew is not dead or disabled and unable to communicate after "losing" a transponder other than the plane is already dead.
I also doubt they were hand flying the aircraft so the FMS should have taken them to the proper destination if the crew had just passed out from oxygen deprivation. So, my guess is something caused it to breakup in flight or it was hijacked/flown by hand somewhere. |
Whatever the outcome, horrible for the families...

In a more radical theory, the possibility of electronic warfare has also been raised following confirmation that there were at least 20 passengers onboard from Texas-based Freescale Semiconductor.
Great, so some smart ass on the plane with a laptop says, "here my hold scotch, watch this". |
It's just one of those "interesting facts", at least I hope so.

Freescale named a Top 100 Global Innovator http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/homepage.jsp?code=COMPANY_INFO_HOME Well, sick thing to say, but we know they have at least 20 new job openings now. Condolences to all the families and friends. We really have no idea what they were carrying on that plane, bet it upsets a lot of their business plans for a while. http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/homepage.jsp?code=IFNWNTWRKNG1 Quote:

Or their lack of same, exposed.
If a 777 sized plane, not broadcasting transponder data, did in fact overfly the country from east to west, without being detected by the military until it had crossed to the west coast (again, "if "), that might not reflect so well on the air defenses. Quote:

Hopefully nobody pushed the wrong button. |
Another conspiracy theory - Did some government / military want something or somebody destroyed on that plane? And do they have everyone else on a goose chase, diversion?
Freescale- That's a lot of employees for one flight. Although could see its fairly common but when I was with a small company, we'd split flights for the same business meeting / destination. |

The biggest floating pieces of AF447 were much smaller than that. I think they were a piece of the tail and part of a gallery. Like 10 feet in size. I'm not positive, but anyway it does seem unlikely that three pieces of plane, so large, but light enough to float for days, would survive a crash.
Why the delay in Chinese release of the information? This was probably a Chinese military satellite, likely there were opposing views about revealing anything about their surveillance capabilities. (It wouldn't shock me if US satellites and other intelligence gather information that they will not disclose for purposes that have no relevance to national security.) |
