One thing that has struck me odd since day one is that the flight was NNE towards China yet on day one of the search when everyone was looking for the plane in the South China Sea the US Navy was searching in the Malacca Strait. Which is on the opposite side of the island and completely in the opposite direction of the intended flight. Now (4 days later) it's been reported the plane may have dropped to a lower altitude and flown directly toward where the US Navy was looking on Day One.

What did the US Navy know that the rest of the world didn't? Does the US navy have a SOSUS type listening system in the waters over there? If they did they would have "heard" the crash of the plane.

I can't think of any rational situation where the crew is not dead or disabled and unable to communicate after "losing" a transponder other than the plane is already dead.

I also doubt they were hand flying the aircraft so the FMS should have taken them to the proper destination if the crew had just passed out from oxygen deprivation.

So, my guess is something caused it to breakup in flight or it was hijacked/flown by hand somewhere.

The more I hear, the more FOS the Malaysians appear to be.

Actually I'm willing to bet that they just had some delicate information sources to deal with and were getting bombarded for RFIs from the press. For instance there likely were "military" assets with data that may or may not have been shared with various parts of the Malaysian govt and/or Malaysian Air. Not all governments want their ISR capabilities broadly known...

Great, so some smart ass on the plane with a laptop says, "here my hold scotch, watch this".

It's just one of those "interesting facts", at least I hope so.

Well, sick thing to say, but we know they have at least 20 new job openings now. Condolences to all the families and friends.

We really have no idea what they were carrying on that plane, bet it upsets a lot of their business plans for a while.

Or their lack of same, exposed.

If a 777 sized plane, not broadcasting transponder data, did in fact overfly the country from east to west, without being detected by the military until it had crossed to the west coast (again, "if "), that might not reflect so well on the air defenses.

If the US Navy was anywhere near an aircraft not giving off a signal or giving off a funky squawk signal I'm sure some attention would be given the matter.

Hopefully nobody pushed the wrong button.

Another conspiracy theory - Did some government / military want something or somebody destroyed on that plane? And do they have everyone else on a goose chase, diversion?

Freescale- That's a lot of employees for one flight. Although could see its fairly common but when I was with a small company, we'd split flights for the same business meeting / destination.

That is a very valid point as to why the info may not be forthcoming.

Huge breakthrough...........Chinese satellite images of 3 large pieces lying in the water - not far from where the oil rig worked said he saw flames.....this is it folks.....and is excatly what I said....they were all looking in the wrong place!

Quote:

(CNN) -- A Chinese satellite looking into the mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 "observed a suspected crash area at sea," a Chinese government agency said -- a potentially pivotal lead into what has been a frustrating search for the Boeing 777.

China's State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense announced the discovery, including images of what it said were "three suspected floating objects and their sizes." The objects aren't small at 13 by 18 meters (43 by 59 feet), 14 by 19 meters and 24 by 22 meters.

The images were captured on March 9 -- which was the day after the plane went missing -- but weren't released until Wednesday.

The Chinese agency gave coordinates of 105.63 east longitude, 6.7 north latitude, which would put it in waters northeast of where it took off in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and south of Vietnam.

Days ago I asked if this reminded anyone of the show The Blacklist. IIRC, there was an episode with details to that effect.

I really doubt the Chinese would have released this info 3 days afterwards unless it was confirmed first.

This is it......has to be...no other explanation.

Except for the fact that the objects range in size from 45X69 feet to 72X75 feet, which creates two problems. One, aircraft pieces that large would not likely float 24 hours after a crash. Second, it's difficult to create the three large pieces from a 777, and they wouldn't be square or triangular shaped. I have my doubts...but I hope you're right.

jyl 03-12-2014 06:02 PM

The biggest floating pieces of AF447 were much smaller than that. I think they were a piece of the tail and part of a gallery. Like 10 feet in size. I'm not positive, but anyway it does seem unlikely that three pieces of plane, so large, but light enough to float for days, would survive a crash.

Why the delay in Chinese release of the information? This was probably a Chinese military satellite, likely there were opposing views about revealing anything about their surveillance capabilities.

(It wouldn't shock me if US satellites and other intelligence gather information that they will not disclose for purposes that have no relevance to national security.)
