Those stolen passports were from countries whose citizens need visas to fly to the PRC. I guess they don't check real closely in most airports when looking to see if you have a visa for the country to which you're flying, as it's not their problem once you leave their country.

Last time I got a Chinese visa from a local travel agency, I know they did not mail my passport to the Chinese consulate in LA (they claim they do), but rather just stuck the decal visa in my passport and called me to come back and get it two days later. Those visas can't be too hard to forge and they'd just need to be good enough to pass a quick look by someone in KUL, the perps knowing they won't make it to the PRC, where they'd get a computer check.

US airlines have adopted much stricter protocols about cockpit access. Is the same true of foreign airlines? Is it still possible to storm the cockpit?

Fed Ex flt 705 comes to mind.

Your unprovoked and barely literate attacks have all the weight of a beating by featherduster.

I once called you a "Class A twit." I was very wrong about that, you are not a Class A twit, and the moderators helped me see the error of my ways with a ban. How your boorishness is still tolerated is a complete mystery.

There is always something some one may know that we do not. Even though I may strongly disagree with a great deal of what Porwolf may write, he has accurately corrected me a few times. In specific memory I made a goof as I didn't understand what BAC was measured in, incorrectly thinking it was a percent, rather than a percent of a percent.

People who cannot "let things go", and keep arguments hot across every thread some one posts, end up looking the more foolish to the rest of the pelicans than even the stupidest poster that ever visit this board..

Another PARFie who can't keep a civil tongue in his head outside of PARF.

Really detracting from the purpose of this thread, which is to discuss the missing flight, not afterburn 549's personal issues.

I believe the 777 in question was previously involved in an incident at Shanghai Pudong where its wing tip was busted off. I imagine it was repaired before she went back into service.

Just heard tickets bought with stolen passports bought at the same time. I'll have to check that more.

Yes, The incident dates from Aug 2012.

I suspect whoever put that article was guilty of an incomplete cut and paste.

The plane went KABOOM...

If it had suffered a mechanical or structural failure the crew would have had a bit of time to send off some kind of message.

There is a possibility of the plane suffering some kind of explosive mechanical failure which would have vaporized them in an instant. However with the 2 stolen passport people on Board the odds go way down that both events would occur on the same flight.

Odds are approaching 90% + that this was an act of Terrorism in one form or another.

sc_rufctr 03-09-2014 07:38 AM

A plane going down is always an absolute tragedy. Prayers for the families of the dead. RIP.

Meanwhile, is there anything further on foul play? I can't seem to find anything credible online.
