Back in 2000 we drove out to the Sacramento, CA parade. We took 5 days to get there. We hit a lot of national parks. All over Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada and California. We only did interstate from OKC to Amarillo. That was a two week trip.

I agree, however if I understand correctly Lanco is driving to/from Oregon and will be driving past Sacramento (and offered to drop his wife off on the way).

Kooky idea but if you if are near Bakersfield and have the time Buck Owen's crystal palace is there and they have live music most every night. I am not a huge country fan but they have some dang good musicians in Bakersfield. They also have a nice Best Western next door... my wife thought I was nuts (and she IS a country fan) we checked in, wandered next door for dinner, drinks, and a show... then wandered back to the hotel, had a heck of a good time.

Very cool. Remember, it's the flu typing. I do have a quick way through Show Low and Payson, however.

I'll stop, I promise!

OK, I have a update:

My wife has indeed decided to take the easy way out. She is flying out on Monday and flying home on Friday. She is flying into San Jose.

Google Earth says it is 1 hour 12 minutes from the hotel to the airport. On a Monday at 10:30 AM what is a REALISTIC amount of time it will take to get to the airport. How bad is the traffic?

I have done the Monterey to SJ airport trip a number of times and the traffic, usually, isn't bad at that time of day. It takes about 1:20 to 1:30, and it is an easy on/off the freeway to the airport.
See you on Thursday for lunch at Anne's.

Go over 17 and you can stop at Canepa's in Scotts Valley. Your best bet is really heading out of San Jose. 17 turns into 880 after you get over the hill and the airport is right off the Coleman exit. The drive up HWY1 from Monterey to Santa Cruz is pretty nice and leisurely. Once into Santa Cruz it's only 30-35 minutes to SJC.

Monterey Airport has been stepping it up a notch so if you don't want the drive, you can fly out of there on another airline.
