Actually, I'm getting tired of the concern for "original color". Who cares?
For me, automobiles are a joyous pursuit. There is indeed a faction in the car community that believes you should maintain the original color at all cost even if you hate it.
I'm of the belief that you should customize your car to reflect your own personality and taste. It's the difference between Concourse gismos and the true hot rod enthusiast. I drive my cars and how many points it might score at a show or what it might sell for later is not my primary concern.

I've owned my 914-6 for 25+ years and when it came time to paint it, the original color was only a cursory concern. Ferrari Fly Yellow on a Porsche?
Oh the huge manatee!!!!!!

I bought a quart of yellow accent paint for this project, so maybe.....?

I once painted the doors and roof of Mini that I raced, different from the body and thought it was cool....who knows?

that green color is awesome.

it blows my mind how great some guys can paint a car. i know i cant do it.

but honestly, i think the original color question was pretty benign..no malice.

i probably would have answered it, "no, it isnt original".

just me, i try hard to stow away my hair trigger. please post up final pics..this is gonna be awesome looking.

Original color matters only if the car is collectible and you intend to sell it. If it's a keeper, paint that baby in pink polka-dots for all I care. It's YOUR car, so make it YOURS. Then drive the hell out of it!

She's home to the carriage house where she'll be resting until the next step.

Love the color even more in "natural" lighting. Sorta has a Porsche Viper Green tone.

How much for the '68 Camaro?

I thought Lotus colors were the same as a John Deere tractor.

$24K... 57000 miles. I am the second owner. The car has never been out of California. It was built here, sold in Oakland, moved to Hollywood and then garaged in Fallbrook for the last 14 years

Pretty close.
The color we used was a color match to the hood badge.

Very nice!

I have lusted after an Elan +2 for a long time. I used to have an Elan convertible many years ago. They are such nice driving cars! By the way, I have an original shop manual for the Lotus Elans that I would be willing to loan you if you think it would help.

I had a 66 Elan in that color red, it is a horrible color, even on a beautiful car. The green looks great on your car.

To everyone else enjoying this thread, I picked the color based simply on my taste.
The color actually matches the green on the hood badge.

I plan to let the paint rest for a month or two before reassembly but I will take pictures as I start the process.
All british cars should be green.
Pretty sure its the law. Somewhere.

If not, it damn well should be. I believe that BRG was the consensus color on the Europa thread as well.

True. British racing was named after it.
