Certainly not the easy path. First period was awesome! Go Kings.

I think (IMHO) we've seen the best hockey we'll see until next season. Even on only 2 1/2 days rest, the Kings will prove to be too much for the Blue Shirts to handle - mind you, I've been backing the wrong horse in nearly every series thus far.

Cheers

Bovada already has the Kings at 10 -17 favourites.

But it's nice to see Vigneault coaching one of the finalists, only months after being terminated by the Canucks.

And Tortarella's epic failure in Vancouver.

Kings in six or less.

Carcillo is now out for six games, not ten...

New York Rangers forward Daniel Carcillo will be eligible to return for Game 4 of the Stanley Cup final after the NHL trimmed his suspension from 10 games to six on Tuesday.

Carcillo had originally been assessed a 10-game ban under Rule 40.3 for deliberately applying physical force to an official. The incident occurred May 22 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference final against the Montreal Canadiens.

Carcillo appeared to twice elbow linesman Scott Driscoll, who was trying to keep Carcillo away from a fight. The original ban would have kept him completely out of the Cup final, even if the series goes the full seven games.

Commissioner Gary Bettman, who heard Carcillo’s appeal at a hearing last Friday, ruled that Carcillo’s actions were more appropriately deemed a violation of Rule 40.4 for deliberately applying “physical force to an official for the sole purpose of getting free of such official during or immediately following an altercation.”

Bettman determined that a suspension of six games was the proper penalty for the re-classified infraction.

“The National Hockey League does not and will not, under any circumstances, tolerate or condone the abuse, physical or otherwise, of our on-ice officials,” Bettman said in a statement. “The strict and proper enforcement of Rule 40, therefore, plays a critical role in safeguarding the integrity of the game by maintaining a safe and respectful working environment for our officials.”

It's been a lot of fun watching them through this playoff series. There were a lot of dreary seasons cheering for the Kings back in my youth when they were still wearing Forum Blue & Gold.

Honestly I was hoping for a game 6 or 7. Love OT in the finals. Way to go LA!

The best team won. Not the best of the final two, the best team in the NHL.

Odd that Carcillo never dressed. Healthy scratch?

The season runs far too long, even for a fanatic, I've had enough. Time to enjoy the warm weather.

That was one helluva show by Lundquist though. Congrats LA!

Thoroughly enjoyed watching the Kings win, even though they beat the Ducks.

Other than game 3, the finals were exciting hockey. No doubt that Lundqvist was the BEST goalie but the Kings were the best team. Along the way, the Rangers were robbed blind by a bad call in game two when the same goalie interference call on them was not called on LA. They were also cheated in game 5 when Muzzin should have gotten the penalty for sticking his leg out. That combined with when both linesmen said a face-off was supposed to be in the Kings zone and the ref over-ruled both of them and put the face-off in the neutral zone and I have no doubt that Ranger fans are crying conspiracy and corruption to throw the games the King's way. There will always be mistakes made but this year's playoffs had some really bad ones. Oh well.
See you in 3 months at the pre-season

Don't forget the Kings goal in game #4 by Poulliot that was a high stick...the bounces even out.

Not a hockey fan. I watched more out of curiosity than a rooting interest.

But this? No fighting, speed, great athleticism and tension. The first period of the first game between the Kings and the Rangers was spellbinding: hooked me. I can't imagine the difficulty managing the merge as a defense man at the Blue Line at the speeds these guys were skating

Great theater, great sport played fantastically well.

How a goalie manages to remain sane is a mystery.

Congrats Kings. Well deserved. IMO, that run with the Hawks was the show.

But c'mon now, LA won the cup thanks to some past Blackhawks staff and players now on the team

Thanks to the Rangers and Kings for giving us a great final game! There's something extra special about winning the cup in OT...even though it wasn't a game 7. You score and you win! Season's over!

And to the Kings.....!!!

NOT even close. His stick was level with the ice and barely above his waist. It was a good goal.
Seems like you are always disagreeing with me. Either I am wrong all the time or there is an issue that you have needing to contradict me.

The puck hit is stick and went DOWN, then it the crossbar. The shoulder is the point of reference for high a high stick, the cross bar is the point of reference for a goal.

CBC showed it very clearly between periods. It was a high stick.

There you go again arguing with me.
The screenshot above is the point of impact. The puck hit the top of his stick. It went up, not down. No way that is above the crossbar.
