also as im sure you are aware skidpad, stopping distance, and slalom magazine tests are more indicative of tires than car

964 was a bit archic for the time and on its way out, the supra was a bit ahead of its time.
I thought you guys were discussing the size though? Yes the 991 is huge, I am suprised the supra is even bigger. There are alot of fun suprises in those rag snipits: The zr1 could only manage a 13.6? Supras got into the 50ks by the end of their lifecycle. The poor lotus esprit is unreliable and slow, but I still want one. Supra came with pretty fantastic tires stock apparently. |

If it pulled .98 gs on street tires in the early 90s it had state of the art tires. You can only do marginally better with current non rcompound street tires.

Maybe the last unmodified Supe that’s in driver condition. Wing was in the hatch. Last ran 2008. Got the tank all drained, lines blown out, freed up the stuck fuel pump and new filters and fluids. But to be expected, the injectors are varnished stuck. Another weekend for that along with tires and brakes. Will possibly BAT this one whenever a new Supra comes along (don’t hold your breath!) |

I did things in that Supra that I would not even attempt in my '88 911 since I don't have the aero bits. My 911 feels lightweight and nimble, by comparison, but with "me" behind the wheel, the Supra was easier to push to the limits...I had it @ 140 once....10K below redline still, and man that car was PLANTED on the blacktop. A heavier car, but in 2nd and 3rd gear with the turbo boost kicking in....a total hoot :) |
