Huge collection of original Porsche Racing Posters
I recently purchased a large package of original vintage racing posters - mostly from the '80s but many from the '70s as well (and even a few from the water cooled years).
There are about 160 posters in all, some duplicates - and most are from high profile races like LeMans, Spa, SCCA, IMSA, Sebring, Porsche Cup, Daytona, Tampa, TransAm etc. Also have a few for famous drivers like Derek Bell and Stefan Bellof These are LARGE posters that were sent to dealerships for display on showroom floor - I bought them from a gentleman who had worked at a Porsche dealership for nearly 30 years I only want to keep maybe 4 or 5 and short of selling them individually on ebay (which is more work than its worth probably) I don't know what to make of them/do with them These are all originals and in very good - though not excellent condition trying to get my arms around what I've got here and what to do with the 155 I don't need! thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

First thing you do is mat and frame the keepers and then do something to protect the rest. The stick pins aren't doing them any favors.

Natty: I would get a cardboard box large enough to place the posters in flat. Separate the posters with the thin paper you can get get at any good art store. If it were me, I would not mat and frame any of the posters unless they are for your personal use. By storing in a flat configuration, separated by the special paper, you can prolong the life of the posters. And it does look like you tried to avoid actually pinning through the posters. Another way to display them for photos is to use some soft cloth-covered books or something else heavy enough to hold down the corners.

^^ good suggestions above .
You might talk with Glen, sales guy here at pelican. He has mentioned going to shows that sell such goods in So Cal, so could have tips to share. I'd imagine you could sell them right here with pics like the ones you have posted, And keep them in the family, so to speak. Cheers Richard |

I'm sure you could sell them if you posted them here. I know I'd take several.
Heck if you want to sell the whole lot of the ones you don't want, I'd be a buyer on them. |

Take some pics of the duplicates, put them up for sale here on Pelican and they'll sell. Heck, I'm coming to Boston next month. I can bring along a poster tube and hand carry some back for LA area Pelicans.

I'd photograph each one and throw them up on a photo hosting site with prices, then post the link here. I imagine they will sell.
If you need help/pointers on the photo hosting part, PM me. |

Natty,
I've been collecting original 30"x40" Rennplanke for 20 or so years, buying and selling. I've also helped with pricing suggestions at live auctions, estate sales and memorabilia shops. I might be interested in buying all of them, PM me if interested.

Very nice score. Could be the "barn find" of posters depending on what you paid for them
![]() I've been collecting the 30 x 40 posters for years and I'm still in need of a few to complete my collection so I'd be interested in some if you decide to sell them individually. Let us know what you decide to do or PM me if you want to discuss off line.

Scan at high res, get a LCD tv of the right size and mount in the correct orientation, use a Raspberry Pi to cycle thru the images randomly

Are they lithos or posters?
No cardboard or anything that's not acid free if you want to protect them. Also, I'd be interested in some if lithos. |

Thanks all for your help - I appreciate the suggestions
For any who are interested, I've posted a photo of each poster to a flicker account. There are some randoms - a few audi posters and a few Porsche Parts as well you can check them out here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/125933534@N05/ Most likely not much is going to happen over the next few weeks - my wife and I are expecting a baby any day. Question in my mind is it better to find one person to take them all off my hands or should I (can I) spend the time to seperate and sell individually |

I have sold quite a few posters over the last couple of years. While not a total expert, I have some insight.
In the early 70's they started printing more and more of each poster and as the 70's went on they began to use better materials making them much more common than the 50's and 60's stuff. Values drop pretty rapidly as you move through the 70's. (plus the subject matter isnt as valuable.) Condition is a huge component of value too. 60's era posters sell in the $300 - $3000 range depending on subject matter and condition. Early 70's (917 stuff) are usually in the $200-400 range. Later '70s and 80s are $20-$150...again depending on condition. Hope this helps

There are some awesome posters there.
Like I said before, if you don't want to hassle with breaking them up, I would gladly do it. Let me know what your price for the group is... |

Congrats on the new baby !
You've got a nice range of posters there from older/more desirable to newer/more common. I'm definitely interested in a few of them so if you decide to go the individual route you've got a buyer.
