If I was in the market for a small truck, this would be it. No elect, no small Ford truck everyone raves about.

I like it!
Ever since I sold my Ranger Edge...I've wanted something similar again.
And the price is great.

I got excited when I read Toyota Stout, thinking it was the original vintage version the OP was referencing. I had no idea Toyota has a new model.

Anyhoo..this is the Stout I dig:

I don't understand this segment at all. I guess if you just want a 'truck' for the look and don't really have much need to haul anything (or tow anything more than a very small trailer). Why not get a similar size SUV? You can easily haul 8-foot long boards inside an SUV. You can securely lock whatever you're hauling inside and keep it out of sight. There's far more storage area in an SUV with the rear seat folded down.

What do you do with these short beds? What are they, 4-feet or so? My neighbor has been on a waiting list for a Maverick for nearly 2 years

I have to agree. I’ve owned a few pickups over the years and never found them useful for their stated purpose. But had to see what the draw was. Whatever goes in the bed is subject to theft, rain or just plain blowing out on to the freeway. Of course, I’m not a construction worker or RV puller. My wife’s Honda Odyssey has been the go-to utility vehicle and has never let us down...even towing a small trailer or boat. Just so much more practical.

If I could only have one vehicle, it would be an SUV, but that is just not the case. My current solution to a truck is an SUV (Cayenne) with a heavy duty 5x8 trailer. It would be great to have a small pickup that I could use without having to get the trailer out and hooking it up. There are lots of things that I really don't want to put in my SUV but do. I hauled 20 bags of mulch in the back of my Cayenne yesterday and take my trash to the dump/convenience center a couple times a week. The week before, I picked up a few pieces of lumber. I usually have to pick up 10 gallons of gasoline every week or two for my mower. Sometime the fumes are bad. Those tasks alone would be enough to make me get an inexpensive small truck if I liked one (and it had Toyota quality). I could also use it around my property for hauling chores. The reason I have not bought a Tacoma is that they are a little too big (a midsize truck is as large as my full size was in the 70s) and there is no regular cab option (I don't want the double/extended cab). I am afraid this one will be the same (but otherwise be exactly what I want).

Before I needed a 1/2 ton for horses/trailers, I ran the farm with an SR5 Toyota small truck and a utility trailer, then later a Tacoma. Also, hard to lean against the bed of an SUV and BS with Cletus. I didn't have a SxS at the time so shooting, dragging the kids in the snow, etc., was perfect with the small.

Small trucks, the Maverick in 4x4 with a tow package can tow 4k lbs, are so much better at 90% of what people buy a truck for than the large Supernovas roaming the streets.

I love my Tundra but will immediately downsize when we move. I will absolutely take a look at the Toyota offering along with the Maverick and Chevy.

It would be a total 'Yes' for me if it were a single cab.

I don't like the looks of it.

I like the looks of the 2023 Colorado, but I need a pickup truck like a hole the head.
