I saw the C63 over on RL this morning. Price is definitely in the danger zone.

I still need to snap some pictures of the Cayenne GTS, but I thought I'd share some impressions after a few days of driving. The thing is utterly unflappable, the way it handles and drives is bizarre considering its size and heft. By SUV standards it is spectacular, and for at least the near term my wife has latched onto it. With that said, it's unfairly biased by having the C63 at the same time, which has more character and is more fun. Of course I can't realistically carry my kids in the C63 and I definitely can't tow my boat with it, so it's all in what you need. Personally I would still prefer an E63 wagon over the Cayenne, but the boss doesn't agree. If you want/need an SUV, it's pretty fantastic.
Coming soon - I just picked up a 2006 Cayman S with PSS9s, full Fabspeed exhaust and tune, lots more stuff, and a fantastic history. Also no sunroof, so it's about perfect for a track car. I've always loved my Boxsters, but holy crap this car is good. |

Rod, that's a great looking CTS. I am always on the lookout for a CTS-V, and I would LOVE to have a wagon.

My sister lives near Brooklands, which is where the UK Mercedes test track is. People can pay to be taken on hot laps, or drive themseves with an instructor on board, use the skid pan etc all done in AMG cars. The noise the make is so wonderful that sometimes I just stand there and listen.
It is a really good track, occasionally used for sprint events .I have enjoyed driving it, but my V8 sprint/hilclimb car doesnt make nearly such a nice noise as those AMG's do

It really is just an epic car, I desperately want to get my wife into an E63 wagon, or maybe an R63 if I could find one. She's still sadly stuck on wanting an SUV.

I need to stop following this thread. Idle hands, photoshop and a growing fetish for Sport Classics could be bad for my wallet! Lucky for me that Cayman won't last long.

If I kept the Cayman it would be a little lower and I'd refinish the stock 18" to gloss black, so we're on the same page. It is a fantastic little car, probably my favorite modern Porsche.
Here's the Cayenne: ![]() Final thoughts on the Pepperwagon, it is scary good for an SUV. It takes a little time to fully appreciate it, not like the C63 that really grabs you by the balls. It is just so competent at everything. I would personally still prefer an AMG wagon, but if you want the ability to haul ass (or a trailer) and have fun in terrible weather while hauling the kids and dog, I can't think of anything better.

If anyone wants a C63 or Cayenne GTS, I'd make you a good deal. Trades accepted.

Have I mentioned that I like Jeeps?
![]() It's a really nice 2009 X that I got caught up on maintenance and put 2013 Rubicon wheels and tires on. 6-speed manual makes it really fun to drive. I wish it was summer so I could take the doors and top off. I also just picked up a 2007 911S with a lot of GT3 and Cup car goodies. Scary good car, I'll post a picture when I get it cleaned up.

Why are all of the photos above removed or unavailable? I just found this thread. At any rate, be careful. You're snorting the product and that can be dangerous, ask me how I know.

I'm a big fan of the BFG All Terrain and Mud Terrain. The blue Wrangler has take offs from a 2013 Rubicon project that I'm working on, so it has the stock Mud Terrains on it. Great tires.

Pictures fixed.
I forgot about this one, which was my first business sale. Anyone who says the 986/996 doesn't last has no idea what they are talking about. This one had 135k. Records since new, original IMS, no major work, and clutch lasted until 130k. Other than the shocks being tired it was still a REALLY fun car to drive. The 1997 986 is the lightest of the bunch at around 2700 lb without a lot of the features added later, like side airbags. A base car like this one would be a really fun lightweight roadster project. Convert the top to manual, install some lightweight sport seats, delete the radio and some of the other unnecessary bits, throw on some nice lightweight wheels, I bet 2500 lb is doable while still retaining A/C, cruise, etc. That's definitely on my future project list.
