I have met up with a router bit and a 4" circular saw blade, but I healed fine. Of all things I got bit by a high speed squirrel cage fan that removed the pad of my ring finger. That one remains tender a year and a half later, but I only lost the pad. Funny thing, my finger print came back. That should tell you that the idea of removing or changing one's finger prints for villainous reasons is bunk. |

Which is EXACTLY why I've got the 3HP Professional SawStop model in my shop - purchased about 2 years ago.

Table saws and radial arm saws make me nervous. The sound they made starting when I was young freaked me out as my dad used them.
The closest I came to self harm was when I was standing on a 2x4 wall and cutting a top plate with the saw going down or coming towards me. The blade went through my boot and between my two big toes on right foot. Only afterwards did I realize how close I came to cutting them off. Dumb lucked saved me that day. |

Here's the big tooth blade that just went into one of our SawStop cartridges. I've never seen the "post stop" carnage before, look how far those giant freaking teeth went in to make sure this thing stopped. The engineering is nothing but amazing.

If you can swing it, do it. The fact that you are asking says to me you want to.
