I work for a large oil sands producer in Alberta. Things are scary... Many people have lost their job and the reminder are taking a 15% cut. Who knows what will happen and for how long companies can keep the lights on.
The ripple effect will be noticeable on other industries when indirect jobs are affected. Ultra low prices are bad news for everyone... The whole supply chain is affected. |

Strangely enough, oil price being down helps us. PEMEX needs revenue to pay for 1/3rd of the budget of Mexico. When oil price is down, they need to pump more oil and spend lots of money to increase production.

All major producers are increasing production on those assets that are deemed low-er cost. Some players in the oil patch are thriving but competition will correct that..
Stay agile, low cost and be a good partner to make business with... |

Cenovus is taking advantage of depressed wages and expenses.... They are pushing ahead with some major infrastructure projects in the Bakken play. Some of my HDD customers are seeing some OK opportunity with their 60 - 100K sized drills. So not all doom and gloom, some pockets of light.
