Meat in Vegas
Dirty minds.
Where can I buy some hunks of beef for grilling in Las Vegas? We have a house rental in Summerlin next week at CES & I need 15+ awesome steaks for the backyard barbecue. Ian

Not a dirty mind. My first guess was that you couldn't spell. Sorry, can't help with a beef source.

Yeah, I was thinking about them. They sometimes have ribeye & filet hunks that you can slice yourself don't they?

I didn't know they sold beef. cost is not really an objection here. We are staying in a 9 BR/BR villa & saving $8K in rooming costs. My goal is to spend a bunch of that savings. My starter order @ Total Wine is now up to $900 . . .
I was thinking about a hookers & blow night but it is getting really hard to expense that now. Ian

My suggestion is Costco. I don't think Whole Paycheck will have any better quality. Costco have have USDA premium. And you can get it in a big packaging for saving / large hunk to cut yourself. I just bought 20 pounds of tri tip for $5.39 a pound, USDA choice. They have filet, ribeye and other pieces in large chunks. Don't forget they also have very nice racks of lamb which I like to add to grillings for some variety.

![]() Whole Foods sells several grades of beef. Prime Aged, Choice, and a couple of grass fed and organic types. WF is my go-to place when trying to impress guests with my Q'ing skills. Their low end stuff is not much more than anywhere else…But the high-end grades will be pricey for sure.

From time to time we buy a bulk pack of bulk ribeye from Costco and are happy with the Choice grade. They have Prime if you want to upgrade. When I first tried to slice that big chunk of meat with a knife by hand, I didn't do such a good job of it. I tried my electric knife after that & it worked out much better, although I'm not a pro by a long shot. I developed more of an appreciation for butchers after that. We don't have Whole Foods around here that I know of.

I have a couple of 4.5lb and a 7ish lb rib roast, half-blood Wagyus, our ultra grade. They are frozen, but you can thaw and cut into steaks no problem. PM me if you're interested in more details. The website to buy stuff isn't actually up and running yet, but the informational bits are mostly there, Mishima Reserve | Premium luxury beef with extraordinary taste and tenderness..
Or go get USDA Prime at Costco, that's your best price to goodness ratio unless you can find a high end local butcher shop.

I believe on Valley View just N of Sahara there is a Meat Market...where you can get the good stuff. You might wana check that out.
Also Superior Foods has da LIVE Lobster from Maine..since they are a wholesale out fit they might not sell retail..however the Oriental markets on Spring Mountain (SF and 99 Markets)at times have sales on da Live Lobsters...I believe $7.99 Lb. They will steam for you to. The trick is to get them within 24 hours of their being caught...dey is fresh that way. Otherwise Costco or Sams Club are good alternatives...If you are selective on picking your steaks out of the case you can find the heavily marbled in reality Prime stuff among the Choice Graded ones. Also both Costco and Sams sell the Ribeyes by the piece where you would have to slice and trim the steaks...about $8.98 Lb. You want Chicago style Polish Deli...Polish Delicatessen on Charleston just East of Jones...they have a smoked Kielbasa that you just slice and eat....SUBLIME...or they have fresh Kielbasa which you can grill or smoke..in my estimation it is as good as the stuff that I had imported from Texas. LEES Liquor for the booze...they gots everything you can think of...at generally the best prices in town Trader Joes....without saying The Paiute Indian Reservation on Main street has a huge selection of Cigars at the best prices in town...comparable with Thompsons or other mail order houses.

Rob, I would love to take you up on it but not this time. I don't have a secure fixed shipping address & Vegas during CES is a great time to lose parcels, not receive them.
I am actually looking forward to not having to deal with many restaurants this trip. We are doing burgers on the barbie one night, pizza another, a restaurant (Lindo Michoacan) on the first show night, a steak feast for 15 (including beef-starved guys from UK & France) on the barbie mid-week etc . . . and 4 days of the 30th floor of the Venetian. Thanks for the suggestions. Even though I've been coming to the sand pit for 32 years I still don't know much of the city. That deli sounds interesting, Tabs. Any pizza deliveries that stand out?Ian

Lindo Michocan has various stores here and as far as I am concerned are nondescript. Now for Thai on Sahara at apx 600 East Sahara there is the Lotus Garden which is rated as being in the top 100 in the USA..that is worth the dime Great Buns on Tropicana just west of Pecos is the Bakery that supplies all the Restaurants and Hotels with their bread...they have a retail store in front which is always busy...and cheap... I can't stop eating their bread when I get a loaf...
