Years ago I read a book about the NY Yankees during their dynasty years (don't remember the name of the book) and the author said that both Elston Howard and Yogi were experts at using the metal clasps on their shin guards to make a cut in the cover of the baseball and that Whitey Ford in particular could make the cut ball make unbelievable movements...(sing an aria I believe the author put it)... one of the many little things they did to get that little edge on the hitters.

I'm sorry, I'm not following this too closely. Questions:
- weren't the same balls used by both teams, meaning didn't both quarterbacks benefit (assuming both preferred less air pressure)? - how do most quarterbacks like the air pressure? Should it be reduced league-wide? - if both teams were using the same balls, wouldn't the other quarterback notice the reduced pressure and complain if it's a problem?
