Crazy, I was just looking at the same bike over the weekend. The price tag is hard to stomach, but moving from three bikes down to one would be nice for me. Finding outdated replacement parts is getting to be a bother.

I kind of like the wild colors... it seems like so many bikes have been flat black lately.

The other bikes that I like in that vein are the Giant Anthem 27.5, Pivot Mach 4 (they have a 27.5 version), and Rocky Mtn Thunderbolt. My back isn't quite rehabbed enough to get back to regular riding though...

My exact logic. I'm don't bomb down big hills any more. Those days are behind me.

George. Soon!!! I'll travel a bit. I need a truck hitch rack. This bike fits badly under my camper shell.

just rode my usual route.

the big sweepers on the downs was more manageable. i can go much faster..still fussing with tire PSI..i can go with less i think. brakes are like good reliable friends..i dont miss the brake squeal of pads.

GTC..buy it. the price was crushing..but i saved for months. (and months and months....) i didnt even get a free cap or t-shirt. hahaha.

holy schmokes, that's a baddy! Out of my league and even if could acquire, I'd be in way over my head. Looks like it begs for YOUR commitment. You don't hesitate at a drop-in. Its all in or go home...lol.

As a side note, why the trend for even wider bars?

Anyways, congrats and play safe!

Nice!
I was riding this summer with the neighbor to the summer rental we had this year who was on a 5010cc. His wife was on the same bike as yours, Vash and that isn't a slam as she was no slouch climbing or on the downhills.
The one thing I was impressed with was that there appeared to be less wheel flop while climbing than my old Blur LT. The other things were the stability on the downhills and the dropper post.
I have looked since I have been home but I am having a hard time buying in again on another high end bike while mine is essentially doing everything I need it to do.

Congrats on the new machine. I'm sometimes tempted by the new tech, but the price tag consistently turns me away. I just can't get over how expensive bikes have gotten. You can buy a motorcycle for what these things cost.

I'm therefore hopelessly stuck in the 80's-90's. My offroad ride is a GT Zaskar that was given to me...needed total restoration/rebuild. Totally kicks butt on the local single track.

Anyone want to go mtn biking in Bucks County, PA, I'm game.

Ha, thats me to a T. I bought the ducati for less than even a decent bike goes for these days. Oh well, I'll pull the trigger one day. I dont ride anywhere as frequently as I used to but want disc brakes.

The Santa Cruz is a very sweet machine. Everyone has their opinion but I love my Maxxis Minions to death. Best tires I have rolled on. I am a little surprised by some folks saying disc brakes are only a nice addition. I would give up the suspension before I gave up my disc's but then again where I ride is a wet/muddy/rocky/rooty place. Probably not like most places.
If you have not toyed with the idea yet, and not knowing if you have steeps enough to justify it but a dropper seat post is the only thing left to add.
Happy trails.

Sweet Bike ! The new bikes are pretty amazing.
Hard to beat a Santa Cruz for durability.
