In first grade they taught us to pay attention. You evidently missed that lesson.
You don't know what the **** was going on and instead of digging deep enough to get an accurate picture, you figured it would require less effort to just must make up whatever BS that supports your bias (again) and pop off.

So it is really hot,
It is really dirty and dusty,
Not much water, and most will not share water,
Expensive,
Lots of um "unusual" or out of the ordinary people
Big crowds, long lines.

Yea, that is not a place even remotely on my list of to do things, maybe right after going to Siberia in winter, or getting a job at the cattle feed lot rendering plant or the pig crap lagoon clean up crew.

I have nothing at all against the event, and I hope everyone the attends has a blast. Just don't look for Sammy and I there.

Isn't that Oklahoma?

We lived in Victoria, TX for year. Couldn't wait to move out. How people live in ****hole states is beyond me.

I agree, Shaun. I've lived in the DFW area since 1989, and have hated the miserable climate the entire time - absolute lunacy that I'm still here. At least the shiit weather has made me an expert on home and mobile a/c.

PS - we are shaping up to have the hottest September in recorded TexAss history - many days so far this month of 100+, including today.

Screw you and the horse you rode in on.

Massachusetts has 3,000,000 acres of forest land.
Oklahoma has 12,000,000 acres of forest with 7,000,000 classified as timber for harvest.
Oklahoma has more man made lakes than any other state.

In case you missed it the first time. Screw you.

We live here to be as far from Tax-a-usetts and Kalifornia as possible. And this part of the country is NOT like the old B movies. Oklahoma has virgin old growth forests. They have never been logged. We have mountains and yea, once we had a dust bowl.

I can't fathom why anyone would want to live in a totally crowded, liberal invested, overpopulated traffic hell hole like the big cities on the coasts. Nice places to visit, but I like owning my house outright.

And add another screw you.

Oklahoma has more man made lakes than any other state.

Massachusetts has dedicated 44% of its land to forest.
Oklahoma has dedicated 26%.

And I would caution against bragging about man made lakes. Plenty of data out there on the harm to land/people to create lakes. Haven’t you seen Ozark on Netflix?

And quite frankly, I’m surprised at how much judging and condemning some are doing on here about the Burn.

I’ll repeat, don’t tell me even though you haven’t set yourself on fire, but you know you’d hate it.

Just move along, nothing productive for you to add, nothing that interests you here.

To each their own.

And the attacks began from “Burn disagreers”. All that followed was in response.

Hell, Don. Even you suggested the area was a ****hole. Enjoyable, but still a localized ****hole.

I found it interesting that people gave away booze, but when I asked for water they hemmed/hawed. We brought plenty, but at that time my personal bottle was empty.

I brought an N95 mask as well as a 3M professional respirator and goggles in case it got really bad. I used the N95 while sleeping two times.

There’s only porto potties, and you can guess how they were. There were teams cleaning them out every couple days or so, but still.

If you want to shower, you’ll have to bring your own. We have a stand-alone setup but with all the wind and dust, and the water is cold, not much point. So I only showered 1.5 times. The .5 was super quick to get the big stuff.

Everything was a chore. Eating, cleaning, going to the head, er, restroom, all of it.
We were on the second to last ring road and it was loud 24/7. I slept with earplugs in every night.

I had very little relief from the dust. That makes for a hard week when trying to explore and check out the art.

If I go again, I think I’d take an RV, but even that’s no guarantee there will be relief.
The dust will, and does, get EVERYWHERE.

Good luck.

That’s because I’ve been have first hand real experience.

And I also said I would absolutely go again. My words are an honest representation of my experience. There’s an incredible amount of distance on the playa.
Those 3 minute videos are a nice snip, but I’d have to cover lots of distance over a few hours to actually view the content in those videos.

But that doesn’t fit your opinion.

You know exactly what’s going on here. And you’re more intelligent than that.

Folks hate on the Burn and the attendees without ever having been there. That’s not fair.

Folks saying “that ain’t for me, you guys go ahead” is completely fair and welcome.

If people fall into the latter, then so be it. No harm, no foul.

Don’t hate just because you think it’s wall to wall hippies...’cuz it absolutely IS NOT that.

I cannot speak one way or another as it relates to OK, but I have a sibling that lives outside Boston, and no way in hell could I tolerate living there.

I haven't said a single negative thing about it. Your post had more than enough negatives about the place. As far as hippies go, in the early 70's I had hair down to the middle of my back and had access to every drug imaginable being used so hippies wouldn't bother me one bit.

Based on your first hand information I can see that it ain't for me.

I only took exception to Oklahoma being called a ****hole which is anything but the truth.

No blizzards or 3' snowfalls, but plenty of ice storms, including one six years ago that left my area without power for five days (house at the time was all electric, so didn't even have hot water - used a generator to power refrigerator, microwave, computer rig, and small space heater).

I wonder how many states, other than TexASS, have a climate that causes a human being to shed 3-4 pounds of daily water weight, despite drinking huge quantities of water, when working in an unairconditioned environment (such as an old school, shop hanger), for 4-5 consecutive months?

We have two seasons here, hot and hotter, with a couple of months of random weather events in between (cold for two days, then back to hot for a week, then cold for another two days, etc). And even the two cooler months mostly suck because the air is still so humid and rank, for the most part.

Climatewise, this truly is a bunghole of America for anyone that doesn't like to burn and sweat ass.

Which city are you in? How far north in Texas?

DFW north? Denton north? Wichita Falls north?
