He did what stupid drivers do all the time, and always pisses me off: try to jump into the left lane right away, instead of using the merging and right lane to accelerate. Right lane was empty.

I think the rear wheel kicked out a little on him as he rolled through the debris that was between the on ramp and the traffic lanes. Lucky for him everyone was paying attention or he would have been an organ donor.

That was always the problem I had. I don't know why. I was never able to trust the bikes. Always felt like they were going to slip out from under me. I was a crappy motorcyclist - except that I never had anything like a high performance motorcycle. My favorite motorcycle was my BMW R-50 with Earl's forks. It was a truck.

After a couple nasty crashes on my bicycle I have the same problem. I end up tiptoeing downhill. Just don't trust the tires leaned over- keep anticipating that sickening feeling of them sliding out from under me.

That rider ran out of talent far earlier than traction. Bozo move that should have gotten him killed.

He was afraid to lean more. ,probably the typical squared off tire squid. May have hit the brakes which makes the bike stand up. Easily avoided if he didn't panic.

He started his leftward slide at 16 to 17 seconds into the video. He seemed to be a lost cause long before he got to the marbles in that area to the left of the onramp.

What if he had old, dry tires?

Or maybe at least the front was way past its expiration date.

I think he thought he could save it.

Until he couldn't.

Look at the slo-mo segment closely... it looks like he would've been okay if the truck hadn't been there. He was beginning to get it upright and pointed forward.

But, along with several other problems, the truck was there... so he was blessed with a wakeup call and a valuable lesson.

The lean is secondary. He needed to countersteer his motorcycle, but probably had no familiarity with the concept.

I used to coach motorcycle racers and it is amazing how many of them don't know that countersteering is what turns the bike.

The bike in the video wasn't sliding....it was not properly steered. He didn't know what he was doing.

^yup, it looks like he carried more speed than he could handle, maybe braked which stood the bike up even more. Entrance ramps are meant to be used for safe acceleration but too many guys use them as launch pads.

It seems he only knows how to lean over, which looks really unnatural and stiff.

His lack of countersteer looks really weird. His lean looked like a low budget cartoon animation. When I would turn, I wouldn't lean my body, I would lean the bike by pressing on the handles, and my body would sort of stay upright. His body is parallel with the bike, which doesn't look right.

Doesn't have a clue how to operate a MC combined with horrible normal driving skills/judgement. Can't believe he didn't get run over. He's probably too stupid to be scared off bikes by his own incompetence but hopefully not.

This lad is destined to be an organ donor, I am too but it won't be from stupidity and complete lack of skill demonstrated by this squid. 1) no gear... t shirt and tennis shoes...really? 2) inability to hold a line, 3) inability to adjust a bad line. he had plenty of available ground clearance to tighten up his turn. He needs an MSF course or 2 and this wouldn't hurt Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic

Obviously his very first time on that bike. He hadn't intended to immediately cross over into the 1st lane, much less the 2nd.

Countersteering is what you to initiate leaning, or to increase the angle of lean. Having the correct lean angle for your speed and the desired corner radius is what it's all about. He didn't have enough experience/talent to know what this was, when heading into the corner.

He did increase his lean angle just before hitting the truck but by then it was too late. A classic case of too much speed, not enough lean angle and a lousy line into the corner. Once he started drifting wide, he was in panic mode and essentially just along for the ride, not in control of it.

Wow Baz there is some serious stupid in that collection. Most are pilot error but the crash at 2:15 caused by the car driver is beyond description.

I have seen way too many squids whack themselves like this. Long on bravado and vanishingly short on talent. He was very lucky today.
