Thanks for all the advice. No techo geek here at all. Hate all that stuff and have no time to learn it. Apps? Well, flash light is what I use most then the calculator (blame public school due to the lack of math skill
) and real time traffic and sometimes goggle. Learn curves kicks my fat ass because when I need something, I need to see a doc now, and don't have time to learn all the how's done.Looks like I have to give this I phone a try. Neither one is more phone I can handle. |

how about the AMC?
Why, not one of you has mentioned BlackBerry as a viable option (start laughing now!). Work dictates that is the device we will use and I certainly do not want to carry two! But this new Z30 has been much better than I would have expected.

If you like the interface and features on the G3, then I'd stick with the Galaxy line. If you switch to an iPhone, there will be a bit of a learning curve, and you may miss some of the stuff you are used to on the Samsung.
Personally, I am running a Samsung Note 4. Although at almost a year old now, it's not the latest/greatest by tech-obsolescence standards, but it's pretty hard to beat for my needs. Plus, it looks like it's the last of the line before they go (went) to an all sealed unit and ditched the SD card slot like the iPhone (a step backwards IMO). |

Read the article I linked, if the security of your phone is also very important to you. (I realize it isn't important for everyone.)

Apple's total integration scheme is a pain in the ass and I hate it. When I turn on my Apple TV, Apple launches iTunes on my computer and starts playing my wife's ABBA collection. Yeah, I'm watching Game of Thrones and f*$king ABBA is playing in the background! I want firewalls between my devices unless I choose to pull them down, and Apple assumes you want everything you ever type, research, listen to, or look at to pop up on every device you own whenever you turn one of them on.
I use Firefox and Safari browsers. Safari is ten times slower and Apple clogged it with "features" (maybe they're deletable, I don't know) that I don't want. I've been an Apple fan for a couple of decades, but this attitude of "We know what is best for you, so this is how it will be," is pissing me off. Apple would be better off looking at Firefox and thinking, "That's the way it should be done."

For instance, my Samsung Note 4 bests the newest iPhone 6 Plus in pretty much every metric, not to mention price. The rabid disciples of Apple just don't seem to notice or care. Let's break it down: ![]() I guess the one thing Apple is definitely better than Samsung at is marketing and/or creating a fan (boy) base. YMMV... |

Numbers certainly don't tell the whole story though. As with the win/mac debate, Apple consistently makes better use of the available storage and ram. Look171 has no interest in apps but again ios is a clear winner in many areas. Apps tend to be further developed in ios and there are more choices.
As a musician, I appreciate the ability to have a small viable multitrack recorder in my pocket. I can record a bunch of virtual tracks anywhere I have a little time to kill and then transfer to the mac when I get home. Recording in ios is low latency and recording in Android is a big latency mess with few useful apps. No comparison with many of the creative apps in ios. Different needs and uses, different tools.

And then there is charging the iPone -- http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/879117-anybody-found-good-lightning-cable.html
Does the iPhone STILL not have inductive charging? I do whish someone would make a simple flip-phone with bluetooth and HotSpot capability. I like my scalability to be had in the devices that I bring (phone or Phone + tablet PC or phone + workstation laptop) rather than lugging around a tiny restricted computer that has a phone as an aside feature. Tiny screens and fat fingers....:-/

Although, I'd say some of the features on my current and past Samsungs (that are missing on the iPhone) are more practical than gimmicky: * Uses a standard/universal micro USB cable connection. * Ability to remove/change out batteries. * Removable SD card storage. * Easily removable/replaceable SIM card with no "tray" or special tool needed. * Rapid charging. * Wireless charging capable. Plus, I like the fact that you have a lot of choices/variety with Android phones (Samsung, HTC, LG, etc.), and are not tied to one line of devices. |

Apple stuff is so fragile, get a strong case if you buy one. I couldn't get over the Chuck E. Cheese/ Anime looking graphics on the Samsung phones.
I use a Motorola Droid Razr Max or some such thing from Motorola. You can bounce it off of pavement if you use the clamshell half case that has a belt clip. |

I don't speak Apple. Feel like an idiot every time I try to use an Apple product.
I was recently trying to use iTunes on my wife's iMac to load some songs on my daughter's old iPod for car tunes. Ok... need to delete some of my daughter's old music. Alright, I see the list of songs with check boxes by them. Perfect. Check off a dozen songs, hit "Delete" key and... NOTHING. Hmmm, must be a menu thing. Look for a pull down menu with delete or remove, or... NOTHING. Check with my wife who's fluent in all things Apple. Yeah, it doesn't work that way. She explained the multi-step process that was no where close to intuitive to complete what seemed like a simple task. Then, I find that quite a few of the songs I've loaded won't play through the car. "Yeah, that happens some times. Just delete and reload and they'll probably work." Ok, I have something like 1100 songs on this thing. How do I know which ones play or are just taking up space without playing each one? Forget it.

iTunes makes everyone feel like an idiot. It has got to be the worst mass-market piece of software since Windows.

You have to learn a new way. Apple is different and superior. I came over from the dark side 3 years ago after 20 years of PCs

![]() While I prefer iOS to Android, I know at least a couple Apple fans who have ditched their iPhones for Android devices. One says he likes Apple hardware, but dislikes the OS (iTunes...) and yet he has the hardware-rich Sam Note 4. Other prefers the Hardware choices of Android device. -so many choices. And then there's this... ![]() IOW, claiming Apple is different and superior. just doesn't cut it. The migration to Android has been huge, despite all of Apple's flood of marketing efforts. WHile Apple is different and superior in some regards, Apple is different and inferior in other regards. --see Eric Coffey's post above. Lucky for us we have lots of options. I like my Nokia, because, you know, it's different and superior.
