Hey guys. Looks like David's in for a little hospital stay while things get sorted out. Some friends are rounding up some money to help cover his bills and to do some necessary repairs around the cafe. He has received a few cards an packages that has perked him up.

Stopped by the only cafe yesterday to say hi to David. Looks like he lost some weight, and not too talkative. Not like David to not have an interesting conversation. I think he's in a funk but won't talk about it. Friends of his are redoing the interior of the place, including the kitchen. Maybe that will bring him around. He apparently doesn't know about the posting, as I told him fellow Pelicans were concerned and we're sending best wishes for a speedy recovery .will keep everyone posted.

I woke up last night and thought about this thread for some reason.
Anyone know how David is doing? Doesn't look like he has been on the bird site for some time. Hope he is doing OK.

His friend posted on facebook over the weekend that they were cleaning up around the diner. Looks like david had amassed a pile of treasures that were making it hard to move around there. I'll see if I can get an update on him!

I think he is laying low for awhile. He hasn't posted on FB in a few months. He has a great support group of friends and family, they were fixing up The Only Cafe and sprucing things up. Hope David is doing well.

Just got off the phone with David. He sounds in good spirits. I'm paying him a visit tonight and will keep everyone informed. Only cafe still closed though.

Only cafe update
Paid David a visit last night, he was in good spirits. He had a "garage sale" at the cafe last weekend and sold a lot of stuff he amassed over the years. He has quite an eclectic flare for the unusual and offbeat as some of you know if you ever stopped by his place. Friends are helping him out with cleaning, painting and organizing the cafe. He is planning on reopening sometime in the near future, my guess sometime after the new year. I'll be seeing him in a week or so and will update everyone on his progress.
