There's a joke in here about "perspective" but I'm too tired to come up with one.
You have every right to be proud of your son, but don't forget that you played a major role in him becoming the man he is today.

Congrats to your son and your family. You've obviously done an amazing job. He has a great perspective on life. Hopefully we'll get a chance to meet on a future trip. I'd love to hear more about him!

He can still be a pilot, should that be a direction he wants to go.

He's young enough that AV might be a very real prospect in the not too distant future:

The future of artificial vision is very real and, as you can imagine, a subject he is very familiar with! Again, thanks and best to all.

Paul....glad to hear that the ol SL is being put to proper use! It's good that she's in your hands. Kudos to your son. Mine just contracted with the Army. He's in his 3rd year studying Aerospace Engineering at GA Tech. Very proud of him.
Life is good, and your son clearly knows that!

Jack, of course, lost his ROTC scholarship but he was doing well enough academically to earn some grants. All the best, Mike and please let your son know how proud I am that he will serve his country!

Paul,
Great pic! This may be a weird question, and please tell me if I'm out of line, but how is it they pulled his ROTC scholarship for the eye injury? Sounds like he is a great leader and student. My son is a 2nd Lieutenant several weeks from his first deployment and went through ROTC. I could only hope he would have handled this type of adversity half as well as Jack as I see him facing many significant things in the months/years ahead. Jerry

In my day, I knew perfectly good pilots who were bounced from flight school when they failed the eye exam half way through flight school...I earned my wings and then failed the eye exam two years later: No worries, here are your goggles. It is what it is. Best to your son. He is a very impressive young man, Jerry.
