Yep. No one will ever be more vulnerable than when they are in grief. I'd stop thinking about your possible romantic feeling for her right now, they don't matter, focus on how to be a friend and not cause any additional drama.

My insight is to not make any big changes for another XX years. Go see her six times a year. Take vacations together. Thinking you need to fill that deeper empty feeling through yourself.

This is something I think about every day. Our marriage failed for a variety of reasons, but not just because of the other lady.

Mid fourtys here. Just ended a 10 year relationship recently.
It ended well, and I still miss her companionship daily.
We turned out to be 'different people'.
For much too long.

I would sure like to be 37 and start life all over again.

I'm 37 and in the process of ending a 17 year relationship.

Besides having grown in to different people we stayed together for the wrong reasons in the beginning.

The main reason, however, is that I've seen real love. And I know that my wife and I don't have that. We both deserve to find it. And life is too short to only be mostly happy

You really have nothing to gain by pushing it, so let it evolve. If she wants more, then OK but otherwise why queer the deal with marriage? It'll go forward on it's own- all of a sudden you're up in Seattle all the time, etc. etc.

Seems like when you get older, it's like shopping for a car- you start off young looking for something that might or might not exist, then as time goes on and deals fall apart you eventually understand the reality of your needs and your life.

Then, you settle.

If you just got out, give yourself some time.
