So sorry, Tom. As you say, peace has finally come to her.

Tom, thanks for sharing your story. We all have or will go through something similar at some point. I hope you find peace with this at some point. It definitely helps to talk to folks as you make your adjustments going forward. Condolences to you.

FB Sorry about your mom and thanks for posting. She believed in the afterlife, we'll all know someday for certain. Faith enables belief for things unseen. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. You did a great job, I only hope I'll be able to be there like yourself when the time comes.

Yes Mums are special. RIP. Treasure the good memories. It is truly amazing what Mums do for their children.

While I'm very sad to hear of her passing, I want to recognize the Peace that has arrived. It's certainly earned.

Your Mom lived through an amazing time. The Depression, the wars, the recovery, the growth, and grew a large family. The words you've shared mean a lot to me. Thank you.

Wishes of Peace and Strength to your family and especially you, my friend.

God bless.

So sorry for your loss, FB.

Thanks for starting a conversation about a topic that's so hard about which to talk.

Thanks guys. The sharing you're all willing to engage in is really helpful.

One of the rougher bits is the conflict between how I wanted to be with her at the end and now the image seared into my mind of her struggling to keep breathing. It was peaceful for her AFAIK since she wasn't conscious but damn it was hard to watch. Logic really doesn't work in cases like this does it.

herr_oberst 09-26-2017 08:34 AM

Sorry for your loss, FB. My deepest condolences.

I went through a similar scenario with my parents. To say logic goes out the window doesn't even scratch the surface of the emotional upheaval, does it?

Your remembrances will be of the pretty woman in the picture with the big smile on her face and in her eyes.
