During my time in the area this summer I really loved it up there.
And was thinking of possibly moving that way.

So I have been watching the weather to get an idea of what the other seasons are like.
There was partial sun showing one day about a week and a half ago.

I guess it's making up for the dry summer.

I feel for ya.

Cheers Richard

I remember being at a week long conference in Portland. And it rained all week. Day and night. No thanks ...

The Ark was 450 feet long by 75 feet wide by 45 feet high, how big is your shop?

J P Stein 12-09-2015 08:58 AM

The shop is built within a few feet of the highest point of the hill. Of course, the hill was formed during Columbia River floods....those floods put Portland under 300 feet of water a few years back (about 10000 of em' give or take...the last Ice Age).
Global Warming is not high on my worry list.

I was snowmobiling twice a week till a few days ago. Then busy plowing snow. Then plowing slush and now pushing the rain water around with the plow...

.Endless summer is over. I thought the heat (high 90's) would never end......Heading back to Tevake's old home of Kauai sounds good. Was there a month ago for 12 days.

Don't forget to add it's been DARK. With only 8ish hours of light a day this time of year. We had the darkest day in 15 years a couple days ago.

GothingNC 12-09-2015 09:25 AM

Too much rain in central NC too.

Finally been dry for a while now.

Sept through Nov, 16 inches of rain, normal is around 10.

YTD 9 inches above normal.

A "Nice day" in Seattle is when it stops raining for a few hours. Still solid grey overcast, but if it's not raining, it's good weather.

When the sun comes out (about six days a year) the traffic reporters list the areas where traffic slows because the sun is in people's eyes.
Yup- Seattle drivers get befuddled when their protective later of clouds dissipate, leaving them exposed to that weird orb in the sky.

As a native Oregonian/Duck I often find myself missing the PNW. Then I'll go visit my mom for a week or so during the Winter and it doesn't take too long before I'm longing for the 300 days of annual sunshine we get in Golden.

I was stationed at Ft. Lewis in the mid '60s. I really disliked the continual rainy & overcast weather. People I knew in the Seattle/Tacoma area told me I'd grow webbed feet and come to like it. Never happened. I returned to sunny SoCal ASAP after I got out of the Army.

tevake 12-09-2015 10:25 AM

Well Kauai is a rainy spot too, especially on the North Shore. but it comes in heavy short storms. With nice fair weather in between, so even tho I'm used to wet weather, not sure I'd like the short dark days for such a long period. Dang I do love the area in good weather.

Bob.
It must have been a shock to come home from vaca in Kauai to do snowmobiling and snow plowing at home, sounds like you make the most of it. Do you have any good pics from Your Kauai trip to share?

Hey Marv, I went thru Ft Louis in the sixties, along with about a hundred thousand others. But the weather was the least of my concerns at the time. Must have been something being stationed there and watching the parade going thru.

Hope the sun pops out soon for yous guys.

Cheers Richard

I was in Seattle for a week on Thanksgiving. Too cold for me. Back to the Bay Area for me where everything is almost twice as expensive. :(

Of course, I lived in the tropics for the first 30 years of my life, so anything below 65 with no sunshine is too cold for me.

If I could choose, I'd go to San Diego.

Looking good right now! View from my office.. the concrete workers must be stoked that its not raining buckets like it was yesterday.

You mean housing. Everything else really isn't more expensive.

No sales tax in OR so most everything is 10% cheaper . . .

speeder 12-09-2015 03:53 PM

I spent two hours last night loading a car on to a trailer in Tacoma, pouring rain, pitch dark, car in a grass yard with 2" of water on ground, two stuck wheels that don't turn, etc.

Fun! :D

Back in sunny CA now hauling it home. The rain set an all-time one day record in Portland Monday, I was there. This was a wet trip. :)
