I've had Progressive since 2008 and have had to file three claims:
1.) Hit by uninsured motorist in my 98 Integra. Car was in body shop within the week and I had a rental. No complaints. 2.) Mazdaspeed3 got hit-and-run in the parking lot at my apartment. Again, at the shop within a couple days and had a (crappy) rental throughout. 3.) Got hit in the 996, big damage. Progressive towed the car from the lot that took the car from the scene the next business day. Then took ~2 weeks to get back to me on the damage and result. I was told this was due to them needing to run special reports due to the nature of the car. They ended up totaling the car and the check was 100% in line with market value. So all things considered, I have no complaints.

I had my motorcycle through Progressive, $220 a year for full coverage. They called for a survey and I asked them, "I've had you guys for 3 years, not one claim..... how come my bike looses value, yet my insurance premium doesn't change?" Next bill was $50 less.
I do know that when my 993 was in an accident (I hit a guy that blew through a stop sign) my insurance company (Metlife) was awesome. Had Metlife for 13 years, cars/home etc.

We use them in my office for businesses that need to have a poor driver on a company car. They cater towards this.

Rates did rise from $80 per month to $180 per month but daughter also stuffed her 2000 Corolla into the back of an old Crown Vic almost two years ago (six months prior to my son's 911 experience 10/14). They say I am off the hook in three years. Fall of 2017. Could be worse. They seem pretty cool.

I can almost guarantee they were downloading all the on-board OBD data to find a reason to deny your claim (i.e. evidence of speeding or racing) which is why it took so long. They'll never admit it but I'm told a lot of companies will do this now especially for "suspect" vehicles (like expensive sports cars).
