This one (latest) wasn't actually THE latest...it was the first of two with the same lady.
We broke off the first one and re-engaged a few months later...different ring the second time. ^^^$$$...that ought to teach me, eh?
So you could say that I've been engaged 3 times.

Better to go outside, just go for a walk and pop the question.
I did that and was pretty memorable for us.. :-)

To tell you the truth I don't recall the details...she could - and would - cite you chapter & verse about its characteristics.
Me?...all I know is that I could have re-roofed my house a couple of times with that dough.

I would listen to the lady and ignore all us ignorant men folk!

I proposed outside... planed out a spot on the beach... that area was cordoned off because of a storm... so walked her out on the Redondo pier and proposed.

Ok, here's how it went down. Before I left my office I was bombarded with advice to keep it low-key, even lower than I originally anticipated as my Divorce was so ugly and open.

So when I got to the house she was napping in a dark room. Back up 2 months ago, she lost a cute little $30 ring I had just bought her while on a weekend get-a-way...so I figured I'd pretend to find it and this is what I did.

I asked where an older pair of my shoes where that I've not worn in a few months, and pretended to find the ring & brought it to her to show her...obviously it's dark, so I asked her to hold out middle finger, then slid it down her 4th finger & said I like it better on THIS finger. She quickly shot out of bed and turned on the lights to see the ring & me already on my knee.

A great memory that didn't break any rules and didn't cost anything. Yes she knew it was coming, but didn't know when. Yes I asked her family a long time ago if it was ok to propose to her. No i didn't want to do it just before bed as it might keep her awake, and agree that it'd be a better memory if she was conscious, so it worked out just fine.
