What kind of tool mentions anything about the deceased possesions AT the funeral...truly shoddy.

That car is on my short list of must haves....I have always wanted a 68 convertible 400 GTO, but I do prefer the dark green. There is no way I can offer anything close to what a one owner, low mile, numbers matching, completely original car can bring. I wish you (and her) good luck in finding someoine who appreciates, and cares for the car the way it deserves to be.

It reminds me a whole lot of the gold/white top/white interior 350 V8 1970 Pontiac Lemans I had when I was a senior in high school in 1983......good times.

Interesting that it has a 24h clock.

It has center console, buckets and floor shifter vs bench and column shift. Power brakes and steering. So it's not lightly optioned.

As always make sure vin starts with 242 on GTOs from this period.

Your deceased friends "friend" is a little slow on the action compared to a fellow I know that has actually cut deals on collector cars at the Visitation. And yes, I have given him a hard time about that kind of crap. But payback just might be mine as he has a vast collection, no children, no wife but a pharmaceutically dependent live in lady friend.

Obviously a well maintained (and driven) car with the hub caps, and whitewalls also. Just the way I would like to find one....unmolested.

If you want additional input on this car, you might want to visit Ames Performance website.....it's all Pontiac and there are a ton of very knowledgeable and good people on there. Go to Cool Links, then Pontiac Forums. You can explore that wo becoming a member or join if you want to post and get more involved. The best Pontiac site on the web (IMO anyway). Very cool car you are dealing with, but I would consider it a fairly basic version personally. Overall condition and being a droptop should be worth a lot given it's originality. Good luck!

Sorry about your friend, and good on you for helping his widow.

That is a really cool find. Like the others said, do as little as possible. Survivors really seem to have a strong following, and that looks as original as they get. I agree that BaT or Ebay would be a good bet after you sort the little stuff.

This would be a fun project to get going again.
As far as conditioning goes I would wash it with soap and water, vacuum it inside and in the trunk. Wipe down the interior with nothing more than a damp rag using a vinyl cleaner as needed to get any oil stains/dirt off the seats or touch surfaces. In 99k miles of driving there's bound to be some. In the engine compartment I'd use a paint brush to dust off everything and a damp rag to wipe it down to help remove the dust/dirt. I wouldn't power wash it though.
Mechanical would depend on when it was last driven.

thanks all...good advice here as always. i'll let you know what happens. As far as spoons he had two a Remington 760 BDL pump, 30-06 zeroed firing only, with hang tags. We sold it at the shop for a premium in one day. The other is a Colt Trooper III 4" barrel .357 mag. factory nickel. We have it here at the shop waiting for the owner to decide if he wants it. It has had 3 rounds through it.

Had a neighbor in Texas who passed away. Buddy and I went over to swap out the batteries on his golf cart for his widow. There was a guy over there that was going to "help" her with the estate sale. He had looked over what she had, ostensibly pursuant to promoting the sale. He was going to buy three Rolex watches from her for a total of $350, prior to the auction he was arranging for her. We were standing at the top of a flight of stairs, and suggested he could put the watches on the railing and walk down the stairs, or he could fall down the stairs, we take them out of his pocket, throw him in the lake and see how well he could swim with whatever bones he breaks falling down the stairs. I feel like he made the right choice, though it was less satisfying.

She went with a different company for the estate sale.

well the owner of the shop I work at really has first refusal on the Colt. If he isn't willing to buy the spoon outright for a fair price I will notify those of you that are interested by PM. It was made about 1975. I have the original warranty card and PA registration. No box but it's in a nice leather Browning rug.

Can't recall but I think being one of 10k convertibles instead of one of 77k hard tops makes it more unique. That and most verts in the late 60s had bench seat so the buckets are a neat option.
