KitKat has proclaimed herself the mole sentinel. We have multiple holes developing in our controlled weed patch. She is knocking out one to two per day. She is still hunting them and I am surprised there are any left. Adam, our other grey n white kitty has never hunted in his life, funny how he is now hanging out up there too.

Adam

Hamish, our other grey n white who is a few brain cells shy of a pick-nick is the king lizard hunter. But he is only successful when it’s cold and they are lethargic. I now have a small terrarium loaded with blue bellies until it warms up. They are living large with a cricket buffet and a heat lamp.

Goodbye Lilly

This afternoon our family said "Goodbye " to an amazing feline. She was one of a litter of kittens taken in by our daughter and her then companion 18 years ago. The rest all died that fall. They contracted FIP. This one lived, but she was a carrier. She could not have contact with other cats.
As my daughter went through relationships Lilly would come to visit from time to time. Always isolated in the downstairs bedroom, but I built a small enclosure she could access through the window. The point when my daughter couldn't have a cat in her apartment coincided with my MIL losing her companion kitty, so Lilly filled in there for a few years. When my MIL went into care, we had anticipated Lilly would need a home and had not got a cat after Jasper passed.
Lilly decided I was her person. If I was sitting anywhere but the table, she would be on my lap within minutes. She always slept on my side of the bed usually burrowing under the covers to bank up against my back.
A couple of years ago, she developed epilepsy and we used medication to control the seizures. This spring her kidneys started to fail. Today she was too weak to stand.

My granddaughter wanted her to be wrapped in one of her old towels when we laid her to rest next to the rose bush she would have seen outside 'her' window.
Goodbye Lilly. We are going to miss you.

We should all be so lucky as to have a cat who decides we are "their person." You gave her a great life. RIP

The Ferals waiting for me.

Years ago, The Momma kitty that lived down the street, decided she wanted to move in and brought the kittens, one at a time, until she had all of them all here.

So sorry for your loss. It sounds like Lilly had a good life with someone who cared about her. Rest In Peace Lilly.

Great pic Byron! Make me miss my Onyx. A lil black feral who I rescued during a snow storm. Was the most affectionate kitty I’ve been own by.

Ok, I just have to ask our resident cat psychologists….

We have this lil turd nugget - Adam

An affectionate cuddly buddy who likes to spoon under the sheets at night. When Mrs Bugz n I step away for a day or two… our first night home is rough. He yeowls in our faces and brings all of his toys into the room and meows all night long, literally.

So we are getting ready to go see our newest granddaughter and will be gone for a bit. Our normal daily routine is the boys and KitKat like to go out first thing in the morning and stay close. If we step outside, call their names and clap, everyone comes running in. Except last-night….. our daily ritual is that when the porch lights pop on everyone is in. We live in a small foothill town where we have critters. Some big ones at that.

Adam is nowhere to be found. At about 9:00 PM, I decide to take a gander in a 12” culvert pipe that runs in front of the house. Yup, that’s where he is, sitting about 25’ in, in his best hover cat pose. Looked at me like F-you hooman, I know you’re leaving. Needless to say we missed our departure window because he did not extricate himself until 3:00AM and Mrs Bugz was a wreck from spending all night trying to get him in.

So my question to the cat brain trust, does anyone else experience anything remotely like this with their four legged family?
Fruits of the crime!
Asking for a friend
Stay fuzzy mi amigos!

We stopped letting our cats out when the coyote population picked up. None of them had a problem with that. I do remember having to do some "Here, Kitty,Kitty", back in the day but our cats were all very food oriented.

Yeah, this is how our cats react when we're preparing for a trip:

Hahahahaha,
That screams “Take me along hooman!!!” Also “I’ll be good and work with you in a harness and leash”
And
“If you leave, I’m gonna poop in your shoes and outside the litter box”

Right meow
