Our neighbor Caleb just had surgery. We are getting his groceries, feeding his chickens, etc.

Sunday before last we’re driving home and see a kitten in the ditch. people dump animals around here. We already have too many pets. But Caleb is drugged up and can’t resist. So meet his new cat.

Vet figures he’s 6-7 weeks. A real little savage. Growls and slashes at anything that gets between him and a food bowl. Taming going slow but it will happen.

Jasper is growing and destroying.

Unfortunately we had to put our cat Jasper down this morning. My wife & I are pretty devastated. He was only 9 months old but brought a lifetime of happines to our household. He was a Bombay cat. They can suffer from heart problems. Night before last he had some kind of devastating heart "event" and the vets couldn't zero onto the exact cause but said had wouldn't make it very long. We buried him on our property this morning.

We lost our Bombay about 12 years ago. He was the best cat we have ever had in our home. And he too died from a heart issue.

Thank you all so much. It's surprising how much you can become attached to an animal over just five months. He was such a character. Like I said a couple of posts ago, you can see the Youtube videos my wife made at Jasper Ash 246. We ordered a small granite plaque to put on a boulder next to where we buried him. Since he was a rescue cat, we're wondering if the people who left him there did it because of heart problems with the mother or father. We made him happy for the brief time he had, and he made us happy.

He obviously had a wonderful 5 months with you and knew he was loved.

My girlfriend's black cat got her wings earlier this year at 17 years old...and she used to take hers (Raven) on walks around the neighborhood, as you did with Jasper.

I am so sorry for the loss of your kitty. They are just not with us long enough, that's for sure, especially when health issues arise. My condolences to you and your family.
