Took this spike about 10 miles outside Crystal Falls, MI. I'm clearly not a trophy hunter.
Should be good eating.

Nice spike! HD! I'd love to take one some day!
Here in CA spikes over 3" are totally off limits. Even if you have an "either sex" tag. It is weird. Of course, every time I have an either sex tag, (archery) I see spikes over spikes, i have had them at 5 yards ... ! You can't eat the horns! I always prefer a young animal over an older one. I hunt for food. G |

We feel the same. Young deer are better eats.

Finally! I have passed up a lot of deer and had some decent bucks pass by but not with a good shot. This evening about 4:45 p.m I have a few button bucks standing in front of me. I pass them up. About 4 more doe come in. I pass them up. Then this guy walks out. Patience is a virtue! I know the picture is lacking but it was just me and I knew I had my work cut out so this is as good as it gets.

We eat a lot of Venison..usually take two to three each year. I'm also not a trophy hunter but very happy with this 10 point. I took him at 150 yrds two weekends ago and enjoyed a great meal of venison sausage, roasted herbed potatoes and roasted broccoli from him yesterday

Cold? In Arizona? Something tells me we have differing ideas of what cold is. It was zero this morning in NW OH. That's cold in my book. Oh and that deer in the picture above, it was 18 out when I was field dressing him.

It got down to 20 last season. My sleeping bag froze over.
