Depends on your point of view. Hawaii is the United States. Fiji can be great and it can be bad. It depends on where you go and want your want to do. I'll take Hawaii every time!

A long way to go for you fullas; but if you like Fiji, you will LOVE Rarotonga. It's part of the Cook Islands. And an island hopper plane will get you to Aitutaki from Rarotonga. I haven't been there but the stories suggest it's even better than Rarotonga. do a google images of Aitutaki just for fun

I have only flown into St. Lucia on my way home from Barbados but it looked beautiful from the air!
Barbados was OK too. Windsurfing mecca if that is your thing and i bet kitesurfing is big there too. Cuba is OK. Cancun was pretty good. Cayman Islands were very nice but $$$. Now pretty much any point south looks good when winter starts on October 8th!

If you don't want to travel too far,try Port Lucaya near Free port in the Bahamas. Two sizeable hotels there, it's quietish and warm.

My wife and I love Grenada to unwind. We always stay at a place called LaSagesse. Every room is steps from the water, and food for the restaurant is either grown on the owner's property, bought from local farmers, or picked up from fisherman who pull their boat right up on the beach. You can sit around all day, hike if you want, or arrange some other tour/excursion if that floats your boat. American Airlines has direct flights from Miami, and probably a few other locations.

The Wife and I have been to Belize & Roatan. In Belize we jumped on a boat and went out to a cay about 40 miles off the coast and had an absolute great time. you just cant go wrong, the water is so wonderful and the people we encountered where great. Would not hesitate to go back.

Nice? Yes, if you compare it to the surface conditions on Venus!

A question I haven't found an answer to. In Mexico you need to be careful about the water. It's not hard to avoid MR, but you have to take steps. Is it the same in the Virgin Islands?

I haven't been in the VI since 1990, but the water was fine, as with Puerto Rico.

Been all over the Caribbean if it just you and the wife I would go nowhere but to Anguilla. Have to fly into St.Marteen and take a boat ride over. Look into Cap Juluca that is where we stay, top notch place that is never crowded and has one of the nicest beaches in the Caribbean right out your bedroom doors.
