My 67 is for sale if anybody is interested. It's going up on consignment next week. It's not a daily driver, but if anybody knows a collector. It's a Bloomington Gold NCRS Top Flight winner. It has tank sticker, window sticker, numbers matching 427, 390 hp. It was on the cover of the Corvette Black Book in 2000.

different owner then??
When I had my 360 HP 1964 I used to cruise around with a bunch of mid years, those big blocks seemed to get warm and spit green stuff when we stopped. That, and those, are good looking cars. Last edited by BeyGon; 10-22-2016 at 05:08 PM.. |

Yes. The previous owner campaigned the Black Book cover.
The 427 390hp is not as bad as the 435 hp tri-power car, but yes...they overheat and spit. Some guys put big alum radiators in, but they're not good drivers.

Like others have said stick to the years 68-73. After 75 the emissions really sucked the life out of these cars.
These cars can have rust issues as well. Good luck in your search.

Very nice '67. Previously owned a red '64 and a black '77. Miss them both. Just looked at a Cooksey Z06. Soooo tempted. If I bought it, I'd have to sell the '87 944 turbo that I have had for 11 years. Time for something else. Reluctant to put it up for sale now as it goes into storage in a week or two. It will most likely go up for sale in the spring. Thanks for sharing the pics. Ray

Thanks for all the great feedback guys. I agree, the earlier C3s are more classy. But being a kid from the mid 70s the look of the late C3s really do it for me. Low power. Who cares. Most new mini cars are faster and better handling than all 30 years ols sports cars.
The late C3s still have the great V8 sound! And for speed. My last Porsche was a 912E. Enough said |

Those C 3s really are beautifully styled cars.
Is it all that hard to find the power lost to the smog changes? I know that in calif that would bring problems getting the safety check, but elsewhere? Just wondering. Cheers Richard |

Sold a 1972 454 car last year for about $15k usd .Also like the looks and had a 1965 roadster years ago. Other than looking for rust on the frame and birdcage be aware the AC never works well ,miles of vacuum hoses affect headlight opening ,wipers,
heat/ac etc etc. Wire harness behind dash requires major dash surgery to get at anything . Look for one as completely restored as you can afford as any issues will grow to huge before you stop. The corvette industry has so much available anything you replace makes everything else remaining look shabby. Mine was numbers matching original engine but wrong color in and out due to a repaint many years ago.. Lots of torque but low on real power after comp dropped in 1971. If buying again I would seek a 1969 or 1970 350 hp 350 4 speed roadster Also forgot like many 1960,s 70,s cars they are much nicer to look at than actually drive.

Prepare for a REALLY disappointing driving experience. It's truly awful.

Maybe you should have asked about this car on a Corvette forum not a Porsche forum...

I really like the looks of those cars...icons of the road! But the driver doesn't get to appreciate that view of the car.
My brief experience (friend's car) was that of a hood which never ended, rattles and steering that was full of wonder (I wondered a lot about where the car was going to go). He had built the 400 SBC and automatic so it had power for those days. It was sort of neat but even Bill (a Chevy parts counter manager) let it go after a short time to build another project (400 powered LUV) that he found more enjoyable to drive. If you've not driven one, that may be all it takes to fall in or out of love with it. |
