Somewhere, stashed away at my parents' house or mine, are all my original Colt boxes, and the wooden presentation case my M-27 came in...I have no clue where though

Serious question...NIB
Although I don't know where the box is right now, when I purchased my M-629, I distinctly remember that it came with a target with it's grouping of 6 rounds fired....nice big holes they were ![]() So do many spoons actually get test fired before leaving Colt or S&W, and how does a collector know the difference? |

Sorry everyone, was traveling...
The Python belongs to my ex wives father, She is an only child and my son is the only boy. His has a target in the box too if I am not mistaken. I have offered to buy it from him, but that's one I do not think he will part with.... He also had a number of other revolvers I have shot, including a Blackhawk and RedHawk and some S&W's, it has just been about 10 years since I shot them, so I was hoping to brush up on it as by no means am I an expert. I am not one to buy anything to just look at, so whatever I get it will get exercised. Thank you for all of the replies so far, I greatly appreciate it. |

Right now I have located something rather rare and is likely to be a sleeper. We shall see? The last one I saw was about 3 or 4 years ago. |

You're a collector, I am not...different strokes. I remember purchasing my M-27 back when I was 18....saw it in the display case at the end of my freshman year of college, and it beckoned....pick me, pick me!!! I'd never seen a Python back then, but as I recall later, there wasn't that much price difference between the two....my how time changes some things
.What about my NIB question? Do you have test fire targets with those snakes....how does a collector know? If I had two, I'd shoot them both then sell one to a shooter....just because

NIB, never fired...still have the original receipt. 'Been out of the box a few times since I bought it 30 - 40 years ago to go pig hunting in Monterey, CA...never went. I ought to just sell it.

You will lose a cylinder to safety. Not many use a full load with a hammer over a live round on a single action.....

My wheelies...
![]() ![]() these two, an 1851 Colt Navy and 1862 Colt open top are conversions made by Uberti. Both are chambered for .38 Special. I have an 1858 Remington as well chambered in 45 LC.

I have a Smith 686+ 6" and a Colt mk2 Trooper 6". Love them both but the Smith is so sweet to shoot. Easily my funniest plinker. A few classic Smiths are on my wish list, there's nothing classier or more timeless than a revolver. Even my 12 year old fell prey, despite his Call of Duty playing he chose a 686+ 4" as his Christmas gift last year.
Btw, add me to the list of people that would shoot the hell out of a Python.

A wheel gun is on my bucket list.
My friends Colts are wonderful but too much $$$ S&W always get high praise. However a Ruger would be more economical. RE: 44 mag, do the make a 44 special like the .357/.38 special?

Well it depends. Like a .38 special, in that it is a real round and less powerful than a .44 magnum and less punishing to shoot? Yes. Like a .38 special in that it is an economical way to shoot? Not really.

You will likely spend more on .44 Special ammo than on low end .44 mag ammo. The .44 Special is kind of a niche round these days, kept alive by, and more suited to hand loaders.
