Right there you know it’s a kids movie. I liked that my kids enjoyed it. We discussed just how evil the statement above truly is.
Yet it is still worth recognizing that much of what is good in the world right now is still here because people care about it enough to preserve it.

Yeah but teaching your kids to recognize this early is worthy. Not right away, let them enjoy it, but ask them some questions. You can still enjoy something while being critical.

Saw this with my almost 10 year old son yesterday.

Bottom line for me and my son is we found that the movie was entertaining.

Certainly leaves room for some discussion before the next re-boot....

It isn't the worst Star Wars film, but it is a contender.

If you’re a white guy (rich arms dealer of a member of the Empire) you’re one of the bad guys. If you’re a minority, you’re one of the heros. The number of silly jokes got old and seemed out of place. The poor little birds with the big eyes were inserted to appeal to the Pixar fan base. Eat the stupid thing, Chewie.

If I were to guess I wouldn’t have believed the Empire bought arms from anyone. They would have developed them themselves and had slave labor produce them.

I was 10 years old and stood in a crazy long line opening week outside the Chinese Theater in Hollywood when Star Wars came out, Ive been a long time fan. We (wife, college age kids and I) saw it last night. We were disappointed.

Absolutely TERRIBLE!!! Stupid jokes and full of every cliche ever put on film.
My 10 year old thought it was ok but my 14 year old, my wife and I couldn't wait for it to be over. George Lucas has to be shaking his head at how bad it was but loving the fat bank account Disney gave him.

Walt's once great kingdom is now run by a bunch of whores.

Haven't seen the movie yet but expect to enjoy it.

I was a twenty something when the first one came out, waited in line for hours in Westwood to see it (something I never do)

The prequels sucked donkey balls, couldn't be worse than those

Some of the acting was worse than the prequels. Better cgi tho.

Destroy or transform. Hitler is gone. Germany goes on.

What should be hated ? Should Kylo Ren be the one to decide what that is ?

It's just a movie. And it is clear some people find it galling. All I did was voice it.
A lot of people just want to say it is a crappy movie. That is not why they don't like it.
That was my point. Movies can be a conduit for dialog. SO here we are.

Have a nice Christmas. I hear some baby was born. I heard he said some things. I like him. He makes coffee at Starbucks...

Based on feedback, I'm wondering if I could just send disney $15 and stay home.

Everyone wins. Probably not though- I'm going in. Going to catch 10:00 AM showing this morning at local run down theatre. It will feature one dimensional viewing with an old victrola phonograph.

I'll be back shortly to straighten out all this dialogue once and for all.

I think movie overall okay.

but- spoiler alert- but here's what SHOULD'VE happened.

1. Leia gets sucked into space and dies. Fin. Done. No mary poppins' / guardians of the galaxy crap. Her character is not critical to the rest of the story.

2. Kylo converts Ren to the dark side. If there is one unexplored theme of the series, it's that the bad guy always wants a partner to rule the galaxy with. Anakin wanted to rule the universe with padme. Darth wanted to rule it with Luke. Kylo wants to rule it with Ren. I say give em' a shot.

3. Snoke and Phasma live. No more premature killings of underdeveloped characters with potential.

4. Luke lives on into third movie. Kill him off there.

5. Rebel fleet pulls into a gas station with one of those "gas station tv" things. Rebel fleet fills up, buys slim-jims, lotto tickets, and escapes. (this would have been better thought out than the actual movie).

Things I liked-
1.good use of bomber/wwII flying wing concepts.
2. not as many gratuitous "hero almost falls off cliff but hangs on by one arm" scenes.

Suspension of disbelief, people.

Anyway, what will the plot of the next movie be? There are no Jedi left. There's Rey with whom the force is strong. And there's a little boy who can grab a broom even if it's up on a high shelf. And Yoda burnt the Jedi text books to a crisp. I don't think the campus book store has any more.

Will the next movie take place 20 years later when there are grown-up Jedi and Princess Leia is no more? But then what do you do with all the young versions of Rey et al? They would be middle aged.
