Get off my lawn!

When my hip started hurting several people urged me to try glucosamine. I bought a bottle and it was a two for one sale but still rather expensive. I used it for a year and finally realized they only thing it was helping was to empty my checking account. My orthopedic surgeon had the same reaction when I asked him about glucosamine. He said the placebo effect is a well documented and proven effect. The mind can do more to heal a body than any other treatment. A new titanium hip cured my pain. I am only upset that I waited so long to do it. At dinner the other night we ate with a some good friends. The wife of the couple at one point said "My acupuncturist says we should chew our food until it is virtually liquid" and I almost did a spit take. I almost told her my pet unicorn says that hay is the best cure for stomach problems. I just bit my tongue and nodded. Then she went on to say "your mom told you to chew your food 40 times" and I did reply she also told me I could NOT get in the water to swim for 30 minutes after I ate or I would get cramps and drown, and to not go outside with my head wet or I would catch pneumonia and die.

I have another appointment with a different Orthopedic Doctor next week. I am going to ask him to request an MRI so we get a better look. Outer Limits at Killington was my go to mogul field for years. I lived in Killington for 4 years. Haven't been on the slopes for 15 years now. I am "prepping" for the future; I have taken up Kayak Fishing on the Chesapeake and its tributaries, and have bought my first "spoon" that gets me out to the range for target practice. I have accepted the idea that I need to make some changes. In one respect I have met some interesting people kayaking and shooting that I probably would have never crossed paths with. One door closes, another door opens.

Yep, that's why I am here. This Board has never been a place to hold back on opinions so it's the first place I thought of when I knew I needed another perspective.

I have a couple of books on Pain Free Living and have found that the exercises really do help. I don't have the one you mentioned but will go into town later today and order one at the book store. It'll give me an excuse to exercise my driving skills in the 911, and say hello to the awesomely hot beach babe that works there.

The Killington chair was brutal up at the top if the wind was blowing. We may have crossed tracks.

I know, you can't take anything without concern. It's crazy. I chose ibuprofen over tylenol. Acetaminophen worked better for me but I was under the impression that the ibuprophen was the lesser of two evils. I don't know. I don't take much, usually just in the AM to get started, and possibly a couple more in the PM if i'm still at work and it's going to be busy. It's not excessive, I try to do without on days off if I'm chill. I pulled the transmission on my lawn tractor yesterday crawling around on the floor of the shed and I survived on coffee alone. I may have had a brownie with my coffee, but that was it.

It IS the lesser of two evils. Just be smart. I ride with a Merk scientist and he harps on that stuff
