there is a journey band that comes here every few months that is really good.
that was my real first experience with a tribute band, we I take that back. I saw a led zeppelin one in Nashville that was pretty good. the singer was our waiter at a restaurant.
tribute bands are really a pretty good deal.
I have several others since, some better than others. eagles was not bad. Fleetwood mac was not as good. I think I saw another zeppelin (zoso?). pretty good.

I don't need the acting and dressing to be the same, I just want to hear the music.

Local radio station has been doing a series of tributes - AC/DC and Queen, then the Beatles, tomorrow is Led Zeppelin, and August is Journey and Bon Jovi.

Was considering going to the Zeppelin show, but since I saw Plant & Paige on tour in '93? '94? I'm not gonna bother...

I've also seen Dark Star Orchestra, a Grateful Dead tribute band, they pick a show and do a "perfect" dupe of it, down to sound checks, etc. That was pretty cool.

A few weeks back on a Friday evening, I came in from work, took a shower and flopped on the couch to just chill and do nothing. Wife is next to me on the phone flipping around on it.

She looks over at me and says, hey there is a Queen Tribute band playing 1 town north tonight at 8 PM want to go? It is about 6PM at that moment.

I said sure, she went online bought tickets. I got dressed and we shot up to it.

Damn good band! The lead singer was Scottish and won some sort of UK contest for best celebrity impersonator nailing Freddy Mercury. Dude even looks like 80's Freddy. His voice wasn't quite there but was close. No one could approach Feddy's range. They just finished touring the US.

Me too Paul. I made it down to Da Nang for a USO show that included the most amazing cover band, from the P I.
One Minute you were listening to the Doors, then the Bee Gees, then the Beatles.
The range and accuracy of their performance was astounding.

Then between songs they would speak with a clearly Philippino accented English.

They were much more entertaining than Bob Hope, with his dated and out of touch act. Still hard not to admire Hopes generous spirit in putting these shows together for so many troups for so long.

Cheers Richard

And you end up paying huge $$$ to see these guys.

I have seen a few tribute bands and frankly the younger healthier musicians usually nail the songs.

We just saw Boston at the Greek (great show) but really that band is built around the writer/guitar player/ keyboardist.

Joan Jett was great too but she must have cut a deal with the devil because she doesn't seem to age.

Best tribute band I saw was Dread Zeppelin. A strange mix of Led Zeppelin songs with a reggae beat sung by an Elvis impersonator. Yes, you read that correctly. Show is a riot and the music talent is high. Catch them if you are able.

FLEETWOOD MAC. damn..i would love to see them. even now. i missed them in my youth.

Saw the Beatles tribute band a couple of years ago here in Phoenix.
The bass player looked very much like Paul and was even left handed. Spooky.
Very entertaining...and accurate.

I saw 'Beatlemania' at the Hollywood Bowl many years ago, maybe late 70's. Great Music presented against a backdrop of images from my youth in the 60's. It was a very powerful show.

I saw the 'Fab Four' in Las Vegas a few years ago. Great Show! I appreciate the attention to detail in their shows and the backround effort it must take to put these musical presentations together so flawlessly. I still watch youtube videos of them for clues on how they do it. A song like 'She's Leaving Home' by 4 guys is quite an accomplishment! I checked their web page to see where I might see them again a week or so ago.

I saw a Zeppilin tribute band called 'Led ZepAgain" in a local club that was entertaining. I think if you like the music they will play it's a bargain compared to the real thing.
