Congratulations!
I married late, I just turned 60 and we have been married for 7 years. I'm a royal PITA and some days I worry we are not going to make it. As for her: She can kill with a smile, she can wound with her eyes She can ruin your faith with her casual lies And she only reveals what she wants you to see She hides like a child but she's always a woman to me She can lead you to love, she can take you or leave you She can ask for the truth but she'll never believe you And she'll take what you give her as long as it's free Yeah she steals like a thief but she's always a woman to me Oh, she takes care of herself, she can wait if she wants She's ahead of her time Oh, she never gives out and she never gives in She just changes her mind And she'll promise you more than the garden of Eden Then she'll carelessly cut you and laugh while you're bleeding But she brings out the best and the worst you can be Blame it all on yourself 'cause she's always a woman to me Oh, she takes care of herself, she can wait if she wants She's ahead of her time Oh, she never gives out and she never gives in She just changes her mind She is frequently kind and she's suddenly cruel She can do as she pleases, she's nobody's fool But she can't be convicted, she's earned her degree And the most she will do is throw shadows at you But she's always a woman to me -Billy Joel But my life is so much better because of her

Congratulations!
The Mrs. and I celebrated our 40th last fall. There is certainly a lot to be said for the Yin & Yang theory. We think differently, but have the same values. She is more empathetic, I am a problem solver. She is a planner, I work with what I am given. We certainly compliment each other. Sometimes we wonder at the luck of those two kids long ago who found their life partners. Keep it together. One day at a time. Best Les

Just terrific to hear. I feel the same way.
My wife and I have been married for 27 years. I was 34 years old and she was 25 when we married. Three weeks later I deployed to the Persian Gulf for over a year. I was hoping that life would unfold in just the way it has: She remains my best buddy. All the best.

That's one of the secrets of longevity - regarding each other as genuine friends. It makes all the difference in a marriage if both people genuinely like, respect, and support each other. That makes it easy to face life together and solve internal and external problems on a cooperative basis. Internal competition, and rancor over differences in outlooks affecting a relationship are killers. If you wake up happy to see and interact with your spouse & are happy to spend the end the day together after work, you are probably in a lasting, enjoyable, happy relationship.

Well done. Not many hit that milestone today. You're a good man... and your wife must be a saint...

Some of the best lines in the movie world:
. There is a classic scene in the 1965 movie Shenandoah, where Charlie Anderson, played by Jimmy Stewart, has a conversation with his daughter’s suitor, Lieutenant Sam. In the film, Sam approaches Charlie Anderson to ask for his daughters hand in marriage. The conversation goes like this: Sam: I want to ask for your daughter’s hand in marriage. Charlie: Why? Why do you want to marry her? Sam: Well, I love her. Charlie: That’s not good enough. Do you like her? Sam: I just said I…. Charlie: No, no. You said you loved her. There is some difference between love and like. You see, Sam, when you love a woman without likin’ her, the night can be long and cold, and contempt comes up with the sun. . ~~~~~~~~~~~ More: A great scene of wisdom: .

Congratulations on 20 years - may you both have another 20 great years and more together.
I won the lottery when I tricked my wife to marry me! Never figured out what she see's in me. Puts up with my crap, is the best mom, the best cook, smart, clever, funny, is my best friend... and I like her!! Would marry her again but I think she is wise to my tricks now. |
