"choppy at low rpm's."

Tis the nature of the beast.

Love the Speedy Moto cover!

looks like a giacomoto exhaust which is quite nice nonetheless.

^I don't think there was a Spaghetti exhaust available for the 900ss...it was for desmoquattro bikes only. GioCaMoto cans had the end caps riveted on like in Choco's photo, so it could be, but the ones I had used a slightly differ turn down tip that what is pictured there.

So you're selling all yer stuff Pete? That 888 an SPO or is it a more special variant?

hey Jacob. hope you are well. I am starting to sell some bikes as I have not raced in years and not finding time to ride much anymore. my 916 is on ebay now. the 748 rs is a full race bike w/ jeff nash engine...that goes on ebay next. the 888 is an spo w/ virtually all corse bits from front to back. it is in the wrapper new. it may be hard to part with as it is the quintessential superbike imho. making room for a vantage v-12 6sp.

Agree Pete...the PO called it a spaghetti system but may not be. Appreciate the lead on what it actually is though (Jacob too). Will do some Google time and try to narrow it down.

How about posting some pics of your Ducs so we can drool over them before they sell?

the giacomotos are actually exceptional bits. in truth, the quality and finish is superior to the termignoni slip ons the 900 ss w/ a nice set of pipes sounds better than a pro-stock drag car!!!

my favorite of them all...will be hard to part with this one!!

Ferraripete 08-17-2017 07:00 PM

with all the 4 v dual injector scoots I have owned, I must say the most fun you can have w/ leathers on or off...the 900ss. wheelie king! knee dragger!! classic duke sexiness!

choco, treat yourself to a great set of dot race compound tires and you will fall in love!!

Chocaholic 08-17-2017 07:05 PM

Wow....I'm partial to your 916. Guess it's kind of an icon. Beauties, all!

edit - Nice body position too. outer elbow resting on the tank, weight well inside, looking loose and comfy (for the street!).

not fair to foggy:)

thank you. that 916 can be yours....only 4 days left on the auction:)

as a note: all of the pre texas investment bank vintage ducatis seem to be rising in value. take care of your ss and sell it for twice what you paid for it when you start riding it less and gazing at it more!!!

now get out to the north Georgia mts this weekend and enjoy!!!!

There was one available for the 900SS. I have one on my bike. It might not show up all that well in this photo, but there are two smaller diameter crossover pipes connecting the two main exhaust pipes. They replace the cast manifold-like crossover.

Jeff, that looks very similar to mine, except your hangers are different. Even the cans look nearly identical. There is a cylindrical damper held in by an Allen bolt at the back of each can that I've left in place (for now).

Glad to see you haven't followed through on your (misguided) plans to sell. You'd wake up the next day scouring the ads! Or, you could buy one of Pete's bikes!

I suspect some of that is the nature of the beast.

As stated above, the way it makes power is just intoxicating. My Triumph Bonnie was a 900 also, but a complete bore to ride by comparison. This bike is torquey as heck and a riot to ride. Brakes are like the hand of God himself. Love love love this bike!

Rich is better than lean. Maybe a dyno session will help. My low rpm issue was solved by richening the mix and dyno tuning.

I always thought that the Hand of God is what tries to lift me outa my seat at the ton mark!
