It was considerably rich, and definitely not what I'd call lean now. Not much access to dyno resources around here...and I'm pretty happy with how she's running.
Yes, the tricolore on a 900SS looks great. Aftermarket or custom, I presume? |
love it, thanks for keeping this thread going

A friend has a 900SS FE with a spaghetti system and I'm pretty sure it's made by Termi.

Thought I would join - again. '95 CR that's complete but the past owner could not put it back together after replacing the cases. Should be a good father son project http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1520263771.JPG

What happened to the cases? About the only way I've heard of guys damaging cases is by breaking a chain. These things are so darn hell for stout that I doubt you could hurt the cases by "blowing" the motor or tranny.
One of the things I'm considering doing the next time I have mine that far apart is doing up the frame in white, like the earlier bikes. Not that the champagne frame is unattractive, but, boy do those white frames pop. |

Loose side stand bolts. One fell out and when the previous owner placed it on the side stand it cracked the remaining mounting hole. Apparently, the guy had Ducati connections as the bike came with all new cases, belts, bearings and a NIB clutch assembly. I just spent the past few nights shimming the gears and crank and now its going back together. |
If anyone fancies an winter project $1700. Runs but needs a little luv n tires. PM me if interestedhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1536095089.jpg

That's the one! The goal was to get it running so we went through the motor (he actually enjoyed using his math the calculate the shims in the transmission) cleaned out the carbs, replaced the belts (he now understands how to change a timing belt) and fuel pump and fired her up. It now needs tires, probably a new chain and sprocket set but that's about it. Its not a lot of fun to ride around where I live so someone else should give it some love.

SilMotor made a spaghetti full exhaust and is a nice piece. A stock-ish engine does not gain much from a better header, they just aren’t restricted there. All the jet kits available for that bike run excessively rich at low/part throttle. You can make a better running bike by changing jets and playing with the stock needles.

My son is 12 so a few years off from riding on the street. Redondo Beach is South Los Angeles and the capital of distracted drivers. There are plans to add horns to the traffic lights so that when the lights turn green the drivers will be alerted to look up from their phones. I was knocked off my Bonneville last year and I knew it was only a matter of time before someone hit me. We built this bike last year - 1970 Yamaha AT1http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1536106328.jpg

I wish I had a dad like you, Yorkie.
Actually, I did. My dad helped me with and encouraged me in my hot-rodding. I did the same with my two boys, both of them buying crapped out 911's (back when they were still cheap) and helping them as they built them into drivers. Fifteen years on, both still drive those cars. The memories and bonds you are building with your son are priceless. Good for you guys. |
