Charlize is fantastic too.
I also saw it last week and I agree. Cool old cars, good music, and fun action.

I am surprised that nobody mentioned the hilarious detail in Atomic Blonde where the body of a full grown man is stored in the frunk of an 80s era 911.

I watched it a couple of weeks ago. My only complaint is the excessive smoking - it seemed like every damn scene she or someone had to be lighting up a cigarette. I hate smoking, so that was a huge detraction for me.

Lol...if you like silly make believe crap with a 100 lb woman kicking everyones butt and taking hits from guys with twice her weight...yeah.

I'm a bit tired of the woman heroine action figure make believe...tune in some female cop actual vids of street fights and see what happens.....

Take a corkscrew in the neck, and see what happens. Believe me, I am well aware of the difference size makes, but I didn't feel slighted by the movie. I felt it was pretty clear she was over matched with the one fellow, but I'm not looking for 100% realism in a movie any more than I expect it from certain news networks.

As they say in court, you can't prosecute us, we are strictly entertainment...

I just watched it this weekend; thought it was great. Loved all the car choices. The female vs. male fight dynamics didn't detract from the movie for me.

But I do agree... stuffing the dude in the frunk made me chuckle.

Well yes but that's how it was back then. I remember smoke filled night clubs, restaurants and offices.
Thankfully we've made some changes. Looking back it seems like another world.

Absolutely. It always amazes me when watching old movies that show ashtrays on every desk in an office, or I chuckle when I see patients lighting up in a hospital. I was watching something that was quite old the other day, maybe from the 30s, and there was a woman that was going room to room in the hospital selling cigarettes and candies.

Great movie if you were around in the 80s, even better if you were around in the 80s in Germany and Berlin. For me this was like a trip back in time.

I second the criticism of the fantasy fight scenes and the violence / gore. I can totally do without that. AAMOF, all the computer animated BS and a cut every split second are the main reasons I don't bother going to the movies anymore. Now get off my lawn!

Was it a US spec 964 with the later cup 1 wheels? If the film was set in 1989, it would have to be one of the earliest cars and even so, US model would not be legal in West Germany at the time. Unless of course you are CIA then I guess you can even switch out the D90s.

Read back in the thread on the 964. It has been discussed and a link posted with a very detailed rundown on the car. Frankly, I don't care, it is a movie and generally the car fits the era. If you are an expert in a subject matter you will always be able to find inaccuracies in movies. It is entertainment and I am sure they use what they have available at the set.

Exactly, it's close enough considering it's not a main character in the movie (well, maybe for us nuts it is)

I'm in IT. Depending upon my mood, I usually either laugh or cringe when any sort of "hacking" scene is displayed.

I was in East Berlin in the 80s, there was only 1 car, the Trabant, So seeing all the cars in the movie including a 70s AMC Pacer had me thinking.

The Trabant was hard to get, a 5 year waiting period; the joke at the time was "Hello Herr Schmidt, we have a date for for the delivery of your Trabbie, it is 5 years from today at 11 am."

"That is fantastic.....wait.... I have the plumber coming that day:"

I think the scenes with greater variety were in W. Berlin.

Just finished watching. Was no where on my radar so thanks for the heads up. I think all the criticisms are accurate. But that sound track!

I just re-watched this... Good movie but the music really does it for me. (and the ice bath scenes ;))

The 80s! Such a unique time in our history. It's hard to imagine a world without the internet and mobile phones for all.

Back then all a guy needed was a good watch and car.

Now it's about how many Instagram follows you have. :rolleyes:

It's on Amazon for free now. Stands the test of time. Music and pacing are still the best part of the movie IMHO.
