What Do You Do When A Friend Goes Dillusional?

I haven't talked to this guy (lets call him A) in years - exchanged emails but not really talked. Recently A and I made contact. After a few minutes he begins to tell me about over 200,000 salves are being shipping to Mars for mining operations. At first I think he is messing with me. He wasn't. When I knew this guy he was plenty sane. Really smart engineer and very personable. When I was single, A and two of my other friends would go camping, hit the bars and strip joints, basically guy stuff and never did he present the least bit whacky. I lost touch with him and the other guy we will call J over the years but the 4th, lets call him G and I stayed close. The other J and G served - J as a nuke officer on a boomer and G as a capt. in the Army, saw tours in Somalia and Iraq. A never served. I bring this up because G also has been in contact with A. G calls me up to recant the conversation he has with A. I told him the same shyt happened to me with him. A went into far more detail with G on his ideas then he did with me. A told G about how Columbus actually was the first to the moon and that there is a military base there. That Nuke subs are also space ships. A went into talking about the Gray people and how they shape shift and can control the perception frequencies.

G says that A's wife is leaving him with their daughter because A is gone basically nuts and won't listen to reason. G is also concerned for him and asked me what he (we) should do?

I am not sure its really anything I can do but I do feel bad for the guy. I told G to call him back and say "Listen G, I couldn't tell you before but I can now because I am on a secure line and I have made sure you are as well. As you now I was in the Army but what you don't know is that I am a high ranking officer in the Space Corp and yes, all your suspicions are true but you have to stop talking about it or they are going to harvest you. You know way too much and if anyone if in Sector Z who by the way is headed up by J, finds out that you have broken the critical mass of transgression and start posting this stuff well, there won't be anything I can do for you. And as you know, J never really liked you anyway!"

G thought that would be actually pretty fun but wondered what the damage it might do. The way I figure is that he has become delusional and I am not sure there is anything to bring him back anyway so why not F*** with him! Actually I really don't mean that, well mostly I don't mean that.

How does someone who seems right as rain, smart, sorted out and basically together get to the point that they believe the YouTube crap ? How does this happen? Do any of you know anyone that went from 'OK' to "Oh Dear"?

He either needs to part ways with the street drugs or get familiar with some antipsychotic meds because he and reality have parted ways.

That's sad. I think I would reach out to the wife without A's knowledge and ask about what's been done and if he has any family (brother or sister or something) that might coordinate some care.

I knew a girl back in high school, I was certain she was my 'soulmate'... but she had other ideas. Long story short she went to college up north, met a nice guy, got married, I went to the wedding and we all got to be great friends. I should say back when we were young it was the 80's and we did our fair share of partying.

Fast forward to a few years ago, I decide to make a random call and see how she and the hubby are doing. Conversation started out normal enough but then she commented on the worm infestation, said they were all over the back yard, little white worms. Me: "well that is terrible you should call a terminator" She says (in a whisper) her husband doesn't believe her, the worms are inside the house, and inside the refrigerator, she catches them and puts them in baggies and shows people and they still don't believe her.

I politely backed out of the conversation and hung up.

And besides everyone knows that Juan Ponce de León was first to the moon... crackpot!

What we believe is what we filter of our inputs that we consider true.

Lots of folks can be exposed to the same ideas without accepting them, and once in awhile people really want to latch onto something.

I used to have an Australian dude that would regularly let me know American's didn't go to the moon, with all sorts of crazy things to support it. No amount of physics explanations about his ideas would get anywhere. Anything that disagreed with his ideas was filtered out.

I think the best way to deal with someone like this is not to disagree and argue - it won't work, but to instead fill them up with something better to have on their mind on a regular basis.

In all seriousness this is probably a good idea, however if someone has gone too far over the edge not always much friends and family can do... a Dr would be a good idea if someone can get him to one.

When I am faced with an individual that is presenting ‘out there’ ideas, (and they are often drunk and / or trying to start an argument), my approach is to tell them, “ Ya, we know. Everyone agrees with you.” Often I have to repeat the “Everyone agrees with you” part 2 or 3 times before they move on.

All this being said, my father has some crackpot buddys. One has my elderly dad convinced that Antarctica is a portal to the inside of the earth where the inner earth people live. Naturally, the inner earth people are controlling our governments... I have asked a few questions to test this hypothesis and poked fun at the responses...

And then there are seemingly normal people who think Star Trek/Star Wars is real.

Tell the wife....early signs of dementia are hard to diagnose until spouse and close freinds point it out and send you to the doctor.

^This. Thank you.

Dementia can begin as a whisper and take over someones life before realizing the water is boiling.
There are many different types, and drugs made for Alzheimer's will actually make Lewy Bodies(2nd most common) symptoms worse instead of better.

Me and my retired neighbor friend made a quick run for a burger the other night, and on the way home I suggested we peruse the local car lots. So we checked out the Fords and then he wanted to see if the Nissan dealer had a long wheelbase Frontier truck.....that he might buy used in 5 years. Mind you it is now almost 10 p.m.

So this Kenyan looking foreign speaking fellow dressed in a suit comes out of nowhere ready to make a deal.....at 10 p.m.

Looking at the Nissan pick up trucks I tell him "We'll take 5 of these if you can mount a 50 caliber in the back of each one by morning!" I think my neighbor was ready to crawl under a Versa.

As for the salesman, he split.

This is patently FALSE, it is 217,712 that are being shipped to Mars with a further 177,122 being shipped to Saturn in a joint colonization project by the Orion confederation. Once there the slaves are hybridized into a half human and half alien subspecies. Barack Obama is in fact a Brother From Another Planet. Did you ever Check out his ears? Obama wasn't born in Keyna it was on Mars. His community organization activities in Chicago was to round up new slaves and reintegrate hybridized humans on earth. SEIU is a front organization for illegal aliens on earth.

My 78 yo brother is into the same crap. His family, ex wife and kids won't even answer the phone any more. He used to visit my other brother that lives 2 houses from me. Now SIL won't allow him in her house (they are fundamentalists that claim he is Satan worshiper). So he visits me for the major holidays. Have told him I love science fiction and all that is very entertaining so he doesn't try to convince me I need to change my religion. Funny if you tell them that sounds cool, they kinda stop talking about it.

Go to a new age bookstore and get a URANTIA book. It is a whole religion based on that same stuff and lots more. Brother is really into it. Is supports all the extraterrestrial stuff but has him treating others good instead of being judgmental or going postal. When you pass to the next level of consciousness you are shown how what you did effected other people and you don't get to go to the next level after that until you learn to treat everyone good.

You can also do a web search on a guy named David Wilcocks for extraterrestrial influence stuff with the grays and all that. He is also in contact with all the bases everywhere. Bother is really into the conspiracy things.

According the "research" bro has done there are 21 civilizations that have been in secret contact with Earth. Most good, but some bad. Grays are good and hang around in area around Area 51. There is a bad group that are lizard people, live in volcanic vents, have mind control, and abduct and eat children. Similar to the series "V".

There are military bases on the dark side of the moon, and on mars and inside the moons of Saturn. Most of the "Ancient" God, etc. were extraterrestrials. Example: Egyptian painting of people with elongated heads are the offsprings of an even older extraterrestrial civilization that was banished to this solar system like the Great Britton sent criminals to Australia. It was a penal solar system.

Like I said, I enjoy science fiction. I tell you these conspiracy people are really missing the boat not writing stories and movies about this stuff instead of going around trying to tell everyone it's real.
